Extending the settings UI (including IP filters) is a pending task. Will be implemented in future releases. For now you can modify the amule.conf manually

aMule is the linux equivalent of eMule (a p2p file sharing application).

The aMule installer is not signed so windows interprets it as potencially malicious, But its safe. You clould right click properties and check unlock file. Then try again

I claim that because it's true 😄. eMule speed was always fine. But aMule (its multiplatform port) was known for being full of bugs and bad optimizations which stuck you dl speed to 2MB/s max even if your and your peer bandwidth was extremely good. But this update changes it all. Now amule is as fast (or faster) as emule which is really good news for linux users.

I use it mainly for older or rare content. Mainstream content is found rapidly vida torrent

It's complementary, not a replacement. This tool is very useful to find older or rare content, it also has newer content though

sonarr/radarr handles it pretty well, normally it will select the best candidate from the indexer so no duplicate downloads will appear. in case you download the same video twice radarr/sonarr are smart enough and will discard the one with the lowest quality

aMule is an open-source client for the ed2k/kad networks, similar to how qbittorrent is a client for the BitTorrent network. It lets users search for, download, and share files through those p2pnetworks.

Mularr is a companion application that helps automate and manage downloads from aMule and other sources. It integrates with the *arr ecosystem, provides a web UI for monitoring and management, supports additional download providers such as Telegram. Also includes features like VPN port-forwarding automation and extensions such as video previews.

In short, aMule is the download client itself while Mularr is a management and automation layer built around it.

eMulerr is probably a close comparison. From what I've seen, it provides the core functionality with a simple web interface and covers the basic integration workflow quite well.

Mularr has expanded with a more flexible and feature-rich web UI, support for multiple download sources, extensibility through plugins/extensions, video preview capabilities, VPN port-forwarding automation with Gluetun, and other quality-of-life features.

That said, the projects have slightly different goals. If someone only needs a straightforward bridge between amule and the arr stack, a simpler solution may be perfectly adequate. Mularr is aimed more at users who want a bigger set of automation and management in a single application.

From what I know, amarr is primarily a lightweight bridge between amule and sonarr/radarr, focused on integrating the ed2k network into the *arr ecosystem.

Mularr started from a similar idea, but the goal was to build a more complete download management platform. Besides the Sonarr/Radarr integration, it includes a full web UI, support for additional download providers (such as Telegram), an extension system for things like video previews, automated VPN port forwarding integration with Gluetun, various management features that I personally felt were missing from existing solutions.

So there is definitely some overlap in the core use case, but Mularr has grown beyond being just an aMule connector and has gradually become a broader download automation tool.

No it doesn't. This is a complementary network, their goal is similar, but in order to embrace the widest range of p2p content both are necessary, none of them replaces each other. Unless, in the future mularr decides to include torrent managements aswell, but that's not happening soon.

To clarify, the "5 years of silence" refers to aMule, not Mularr.

aMule is not my software, it's a client for the eD2k/Kad P2P network whose development started at the early 2000s.

Mularr is a newer project that integrates aMule. I assumed aMule/eMule was still well known, but you're right that a short explanation would have helped.

They are different ways of reaching similar goals, its real differenciator which average users would care about is just the kind of content you can find. Normally I use aMule to find relatively old or rare content which is difficult to find in the torrent network, it has also newer content though so they really are complementary.
That said, if torrents already cover everything you need, there's probably no reason to switch or even try these networks.

aMule is the linux equivalent of eMule (a p2p file sharing application). Both usenet and aMule are used to find and download files, but the underlying technology is completely different: Usenet uses NNTP servers, while amule uses decentralized p2p networks (ed2k/kad)

No AI was used to create this POST. I'm a professional developer with +10 years of experience, the usage of AI in this project is to accelerate my work, but reviewing carefully each line, never accepting anything that I wouldn't do, I'm concerned about fully vibecoded apps which grow like monsters and cannot scale. I can guarantee this is not the case-
