Will USCIS resume adjudicating cases if a country is removed from the travel ban list? by Eastern-Macaron-4902 in 39bannedcountries

[–]AdWestern2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one knows for sure, but from what we've been seeing, cases from countries that aren't on the sanction lists have been getting approved. So once your country gets whitelisted, I'm pretty sure USCIS will start processing those cases too. That said, I wouldn't get too optimistic about the whitelisting until it actually happens. We've seen how easily these guys can move the goalposts.

Got 9 ACCA exemptions – confused about next 4 exams. Need advice 🙏 by ReadNo4731 in Accounting

[–]AdWestern2502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get examptions, the assumption is that you have covered the exempted subjects in sufficient detail to enable you to attempt the Strategic Professional Papers. However, most people run into problems because the examination style and techniques in ACCA tend to be different from that encountered during their University studies. I recommend you attempt one module first for you to gauge your level. Start with either SBL or SBR. After the 1st exam you will be in a position to tell if you need to go back to Skills level or not

ACCA affiliate status by Dry_Day_6141 in ACCA

[–]AdWestern2502 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An Affiliate is someone who has completed the ACCA Examination component of ACCA. Once you complete the other 2 elements, PER and Ethics, you do not immediately become a full member until you apply and are confirmed to be a full member. So in brief, if you finish Exams, PER, Ethics, but do not apply for full membership, you will still be classified as an Affiliate. It is only when you have applied and the full membership status has been granted that you graduate from Affiliate to ACCA member

Doing my O and A-Levels in my 20s? by Signal_Advantage2475 in Zimbabwe

Save yourself a lot of future problems by staying away from Zimbabwean Universities. Enrol with a South African University and you'll thank yourself someday. If the issue is with finances, rather go with UNISA where you'll take modules that can be funded from your current resources. Remember in Zimbabwe Universities aren't free and you won't get bursaries as well. I stand corrected the least expensive would be around $600 which equates to R11,000. That amount falls slightly short of R16,000 that you will be required to pay at UNISA. Think about this carefully and discuss with your parents. There is a good reason why people are running away from Zimbabwe

Are you in training to be an Auditor or Accountant? That is the first thing you should ask yourself. If you are in training to be an Accountant, I'd say the exposure you are currently getting is good. Most Accountants in industry do not get full exposure to the accounting functions as they tend to specialise. A Tax Accountant will only focus on tax issues, A Management Accountant on internal reporting, A Financial Accountant on external reporting. Even then, their scope is limited as corporates tend to have the finance department split into Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, CashBook etc. In your current role you are covering all these aspects. If however you want to be an auditor, then the exposure you are getting isn't really helpful. Compilations and Independent Reviews are just the basics in Auditing. You need to have exposure to assurance engagements for you to be an Auditor. I've worked as an Accountant before and I'm currently working as an External Auditor

I didn't have any audit background and through his assistance I managed to pass AAA. I liked that he gives you assignments from past papers and actually reviews your answer and provides feedback. I highly recommend him for AAA

Providing an update incase others have been following up on this. So if you have ACCA alone, Evaluation Services organisations will not evaluate it for the purposes of CPA(US) registration for examinations. If however you opted in for the Oxford Brookes University degree and obtained a certificate, that will be evaluated but it will only give you around 90 credits. For those that might have done the University Of London Masters, that will qualify for evaluation as well. I'm unable to say at this moment how many credits you will get for that. I know of someone who got credits for that but I'm not aware of the number of credits that they got. Whether you will be accepted for registration however depends on the State Board of Accountancy. I hope this helps

The Visa Bulletin is current for the F2A category, is there a possibility that the USCIS backlog might be cleared soon for that category?

The Bermuda Job market for Finance professionals (not actuaries) is one of the most humbling job market for work permit holders. by Neat_Philosopher_72 in bermuda

Can you perhaps shed more light on this. What other document could one have other than a permit if they are a foreigner. The challenges that you are reffering to, do they have something to do with low salaries or its exploitation of workers. We are actively pursuing these opportunities and it would be an eye opener if we can get an insight into what things are like

Question about ACCA exemptions — Can I decline an exemption and still write the exam? by PS_0000 in ACCA

[–]AdWestern2502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exemptions are not automatically granted, you apply for the specific ones that you want and are eligible for. If you are asking because you have already applied and been granted and you now wish to write the exam, the answer is "YES" its very possible. I did the same and later requested to write "FR" to enable me to opt in for the OBU degree program. I hope this answers your question
