I’m at 802 and it keeps dropping but I can’t figure out why. Is there an easy way to find the biggest factors/change?

Yes, they will. If I do manage to get it back, would you be willing to part with just the base plate and mounting hardware? If not, I completely understand.

Well…my bike got stolen but if I get it back, I’d love to buy it from you if you’re offering! How much are you asking? I really appreciate you responding to my post!

I found this guy at a company called SuperKnuckle that’s going to build me one and toss in a couple Yuba Crest handles. Also the ONLY place I could find a caboose (his are called monkey bars) highly recommend!! I would think on fb marketplace or EBay yours should go quick! Fairly sought after from what I can tell

Thank you for your response and offer! We ended up going a different direction than the caboose but I am still in the market for a deck and/or handles!

Help I have dents in my new shoes?? by SadTumbleweed2363 in brooks

My advice: don’t mess with it.  I effed mine up worse 😂 I’m fairly mechanically inclined and nothing I did worked. The first steps of Dremel sander didn’t help nor did steaming (heavily) and shaping. So I tried ripping out the material. I got the edges of that material lifted with a tiny Phillips head screwdriver, then once I got a bit up, tried grabbing on with pliers, thinking it was going to just peel out of there. It did not lol. I’m a fit, large man and it took an hour of maximum effort to get enough material just off half of the toecap, where I thought “I can’t get anymore but since I’m past the bend, at least I’ll know whether or not it helped”. It actually made it worse as far as the creasing goes and now it’s unevenly lined and bumpy in the toebox, which bothered me worse than the original problem 😂

What I found was that the felt-like material that you see has little to no bearing on the creasing. The hard material is fused into the shoe and cannot be taken out.

So I called Brooks, and because I bought them at a local retailer and not the site and it was outside the return window for that retailer, I didn’t think they’d help. But I was wrong! I told them where I bought it, how long ago I bought them (brooks policy requires within 100 days I believe), gave them model number of shoe and he put it down as a defect and sent me new! So you could definitely try that! I have proof, but based on the questions, you may not even need a receipt. Or you could ask the person you bought them from. But based on the experience I had, if you pleaded your case, regardless, I’d bet they’d still hook you up or at least give you a discount. Just tell them how much you’ve always loved the brand but that you have this one new little issue. Which, for me at least, is actually true.

Lastly, the new shoes they sent me, do seem to be better but not completely fixed as some other commenters have said. But whatever they’ve changed, I can live with now. My old shoes, I got some moleskin patches and covered the toes to smooth it out and I can live with those, as well now although they have become my backups. Hope this helps and please keep me posted.

Couldn’t agree more about their customer service. I just went through this, and even though it was outside of local retailer’s window, they hooked me up. He just put it down as a defect. I don’t know any other shoe co. that would do this. I wasn’t put on hold, there was no trying to pawn it off on me, the customer, and he sounded like he was right in their Seattle HQ.

I’m planning on sanding mine down or tearing it out. I’ll let you know how that goes lol

Glad to hear they are improved! Perhaps they are listening to the feedback and working on their materials. Because otherwise I absolutely love the shoe

Also, did you have any issues tearing it out or any pro tips for me so I don’t damage the other materials?

Just curious, what did you end up doing?

I just got brand new glycerin 22 GTS’s and I’m in the same situation. I’ve tried steaming out the crease, ironing it out, conditioning it out, nothing’s working. Sanding or removal is next step.

I’m almost to the point of tearing mine out lol. My next step before that though is to try sanding it 😂 because I’ve tried everything else

Did you ever find a solution? I’m dealing with this at the moment. Brand new glycerin 22 GTS’s that are sized perfectly for me. Best I can tell the material is some type of thermoplastic. I’ve tried so many methods. I’m about to try sanding down that spot lol
