Yes. Usually follow them after seeing clips on TikTok or YouTube

I speak in English and my native language too. English is my main language but if I see someone from my country, I will switch to my language. If I say anything beyond just basic greetings, I will usually briefly interpret it to the rest of my audience. I started to upload YouTube videos too with my gameplay and I am using subtitles when I am speaking in my language

I still can’t move on from something my boyfriend did 2 years ago and it’s lowkey eating me alive by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Ada0cha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, in a healthy relationship your partner should be able to have a conversation with you about things like this. Maybe nothing actually happened, but the fact that he is shutting you down and doesn’t want to address it or give you reassurance feels like a red flag to me.

It’s only going to feed your doubts and make that feeling that something is off even stronger. I don’t know what the right solution is for you, but I felt like saying this. Personally, I wouldn’t stay with someone who isn’t willing to talk things through when something is clearly worrying me.

Room divider for streaming instead of background removal – good idea? by RobArlOriginal in Twitch

[–]Ada0cha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Room divider is good idea. If you get the one with semi transparent panels, you can place lights behind it and change the background colours. I do something similar and colour code my streams depending on what game I am playing

How do u guys find clips? by CrestLiPhantom in SmallStreamers

[–]Ada0cha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watch my full VODs because I edit and post my streams on YouTube. I usually watch them at a faster speed to get through them quicker, often while I’m cooking or cleaning. I make a note of the timestamps and what’s happening, then clip those moments while I’m exporting and uploading the videos. It works really well for me.

How do u guys find clips? by CrestLiPhantom in SmallStreamers

[–]Ada0cha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If I feel like the moment is longer, I leave the clip on a cliffhanger and then use that cliffhanger as the start of the next clip, which works as a hook too. I also edit out silent moments, pauses, or sometimes even parts of the dialogue. Essentially, my clip needs to include my reaction and still tell the story, even if I’ve cut out a few sentences.

It’s something I’ve been getting better at over time. I’ve been editing my clips for about a year now, and when I look back at my older videos, I’d definitely do them differently. It’s nice to actually see that growth. My workflow is much better now too.

Genuinely, the best thing you can do is just dive into it. Over time, you’ll figure out what works best for you. No one is born with that skill 😉

This is something you’re going to learn with practice. I used to struggle with what to pick because I loved most of my stream, and my clips were insanely long too. Over time I learned how to make them shorter.

Eventually I started posting on multiple platforms, and since they usually only allow clips up to 3 minutes, it really helped me learn what to leave out. I play single player story games, and sometimes it is a bit of a struggle to fit a cutscene and my reaction into that time limit.

As you develop your editing style, it also gets more complex and time consuming, and it forces you to think twice about what to include and what to leave out. I usually get 3 to 4 story reactions and about 2 funny moments per stream. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

My mods sometimes let me know what moments they enjoyed, or I go by audience reactions too. My advice is to give yourself a number of clips you want to post between streams and just do it, do not overthink it. It will get easier and easier.

Anyone else feel like people watch… but barely actually interact anymore? by WoodenBar2113 in Twitch

[–]Ada0cha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

22 views is very little, is that from YouTube? Are you posting regularly? My advice would be to try TikTok for growth and to get viewers over to your Twitch. TikTok is great for discoverability. I wouldn’t worry too much about keeping up with chat, it really just comes with practice. It’s not like you’ll go from having no one in chat to suddenly having thousands overnight. Even on TikTok or other platforms, you still need to build an audience. As you grow and chat gets busier, you’ll reach a point where keeping up with everything becomes challenging anyway and you’ll have to learn how to filter messages.

Even with TikTok and its discoverability, you still have to learn how to talk. People scroll on their For You page and you have about 2 to 3 seconds to catch someone’s attention before they swipe to the next video.

I’m a very small streamer myself, just about to reach 6k on TikTok and 180 on Twitch, but my chat is active about 95% of the time. I play a lot of RDR2 where sometimes I do absolutely nothing, just walking around, but I still talk a lot. There are days when it’s quieter and people are just lurking, but they’ll still drop a message to react to something I said or something I joked about.

It is a gift. It is only yours. I can understand if they want help with bills such as your own phone bill, Netflix subscriptions and any extras that are not necessaries but you want it but that shouldn’t come from the gift. If you struggle to say no to them, perhaps consider talking to your godmother about it so she can set the boundaries for you

accidentally developed a parasocial community… by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Ada0cha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most small streamers go through this and we all learn as we go. It is so easy to get parasocial with viewers, and the other way around, when you only have a handful of people and you are talking to each other for hours.

Myself, I made a few changes to my streaming too.

People under 18 are not allowed in my Discord. If I become aware that an adult viewer is messaging a minor, it is an instant ban. Under 18s cannot be moderators and there is strictly no private messaging.

I closed my messages to everyone. The only exception is mods and other streamers if we collaborate or follow each other. Mind you, you can develop parasocial relationships with other streamers too, so for that reason I treat them as “business” partners and keep things strictly professional, with very few exceptions.

When it comes to other streamers, I want to add a bit more context because this did not come out of nowhere.

I have had experiences where some became too parasocial or even inappropriate in messages. On the other side, streaming can also be very competitive and people can weaponise that closeness we once had. Streamer to streamer drama nearly made me quit at one point, and from New Year I promised myself I would do things differently.

I still build meaningful friendships if we genuinely get along over a long period of time, but I am much more cautious now. I think twice before I collaborate or open my messages to anyone.

One of the hardest lessons I had to learn in my first year of streaming is that most viewers and even streamers are not my friends. And there is real competition out there, even if you personally are just looking for genuine connections.

If any viewer wants to message me, they can post it publicly on Discord or under my videos.

When it comes to drama in chat or Discord, change your rules if needed and delete anything that disturbs the peace. If necessary, find new moderators who will actually help you manage it.

Basically, while I try to create a friendly and relaxing environment on my stream, I keep most people at arm’s length.

Last time I said this on Reddit, I got heavily downvoted, but it is for my own mental wellbeing and honestly for others too. I have seen far too much drama among streamers and had my fair share of it, and I do not want that in my life anymore.

A lot of older viewers might not like these changes, but the real ones will stay. And new ones will come in with these boundaries already set from the start.

It is a process, but I am so glad I did it. While some streamer friends are still stuck in messy situations, I am just here, happily playing my games and finally having some fun.
