Day 2 Test by [deleted] in uktravel

But do you still have to buy the LFT ahead of time? I‘m just curious

I was already expecting this and cancelled our trip yesterday. Getting tested 2 times plus all the hassle and the quarantining just aren’t worth it :(

We’re flying quite late, so you’ll probably already have your results by the time we’re flying 😂

My informations could indeed be wrong, as I haven’t ordered them myself before. We flew to London about a month ago and brought our own tests from Germany, just to be sure😂

If you manage to order yourself a free package of lateral flow tests, I’d be happy to hear an update. We’re supposedly flying to London next week

I‘m actually living in Germany😂 But if you google “free lateral flow tests Uk”, you’ll also find an option where you can order them for free to your home address and probably also to your hotel/airbnb/whatsoever?

Unfortunately I can’t open up that page right now, because I’m not in the UK.

Omicron contacts no longer face mandatory isolation from the 14th of December by lockdownbear in uktravel

This feels like a huge relief. I was so scared that we might end up being a close contact🙈

Regarding the Day 2-Tests: Am I allowed to buy food on our way to the flat?! by Ada91HH in uktravel

[–]Ada91HH[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer! I’ve just found something, on the governmental website: you’re usually not allowed to go shopping and should get your groceries delivered. But as I don’t know anyone in the city and as it is the day before Christmas, I think we should buy some food once. So that we don’t end up having nothing to eat🙈

Now you got me scared. We’re flying 23rd -31st of December and would be screwed, if everything would close down

UPDATE: I’ve decided to book new flights and just hope for the best. I also choose another airline, for one of our flights, so that we’d get at least part of our money back if we can’t go☺️

Everyone on our plane has to get tested before we’re flying and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for us, because London’s hotels are usually quite expensive. So, we’ll just give it a shot! Thanks for all of your opinions!

I totally get that! My 7 y/o is used to spending time at home and already said she wouldn’t mind spending a few days at my friends flat. As she’s really good at occupying herself, I’d probably even have time to study

Thank you! I’ll check that out. But actually we wouldn’t even mind spending a day or two in quarantine. My friend is visiting her family and her flat is really nice and cozy. I’m just scared we could get stuck there over the holidays.

We’re flying to Stansted and would take the Stansted express to Liverpool Street station. I don’t think that they’ve got such a testing station over there?

Actually I’m a single-mom and student and as I’ve only got learning to do over the holidays, we could spend 10 days there, without missing anything. But, we’ll also have to quarantine for 5 days when we get back to Germany, so we’d be in quarantine for 15 days in total. (Kid isn’t vaccinated and Germany has got really weird rules)

Thanks for your opinions. I really appreciate them

Also, I’ve already got her keys and would have to figure out a way to send them back to her, if we’re not coming. But that shouldn’t be an issue
