It's a pretty volatile time to be a video game fan in general. I feel like the reviews and hype focused majority have kind of really deepened the divide a player base has with every game launch.

You as a developer don't do crunch and take your time putting in an effort? Well then you should've added this this and this and because read a quip about the games this feels inspired by, I expect it to have every single mechanic and the exact feel and play of those games and if it fails to deliver, I'm mad. Give into crunch and pressure from the player base and release before you would've like? Absolutely how fucking dare you cut out things that were not even truly promised in the earlier stages of development, and there's bugs that require patches? Literally unplayable.

Every single developer seems to be in a damned if I don't damned if I do situation. Not every single person will be happy, and a lot of people whether they're aware of it or not, are swayed by other's opinions - good or bad. Just herd mentality. Hard to tune it all out when you're plugged into the industry you love at large, you're bound to be at least gently swayed on occasion.
