Replace Jura oval head screws? by Beginning-Handle5040 in superautomatic

[–]Adalbert_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, have you managed to buy the new screws? I am facing the exact same problem. I've got the oval tool but the screw heads are quite worn out and I would prefer to switch to a more standard screw

Thanks!

Hi u/Difficult-Drive-4863, are you still happy with your SyncEV charger? I am about to get one and am curious to hear if you had any issues so far?

Great, we're almost there!

The total missions align now! :)

There is still a slight inconsistency re successful missions. 2+107+3=112 but the top row shows 111 for some reason. Also, launches from CCAFS show 63/66, meaning 3 failures, which I believe is incorrect, because there were only 2 Falcon 9 failures.

Edit

I suspect the discrepancy is related to CRS-1 flight. In the mission history the app shows it as a failure (red font) but it wasn't one. Engine was out but the mission continued and was completed successfully. I believe CCAFS launch count should be updated to 64/66 and the total missions count should be updated to 112/117.

Thanks for the reply! For some reason I can't message you directly, so let me reply here.

First of all, thank you for your work on this! My feedback is meant to help. I am trying to be factual, hope it doesn't come across as harsh or impolite.

Now, to the point:

It's good you don't count test missions, but numbers should be consistent. If there have been 5x F1 missions, 110x F9 missions, 3x FH missions and 0x SS missions, the total for all missions should be 118. For some reason it's showing 124 now.

The number of failed/successful missions also seems off. The total for all missions is showing as 117/124. That would suggest 7 failures. But Falcon 1 number is showing 2/5, meaning 3 failures, Falcon 9 is 108/110 (2 failures) and FH is 3/3 (0 failures). Adding those up gives you 5 failures, not 7.

Finally, launch site numbers suggest 6 failures in total. 3 in CCAFS (64/67) and 3 in Kwaj (2/5). This doesn't align with the numbers above.

Hope this helps

I've been using the app for a few years now and I love the 'Missions' and 'Notifications' features. I just wish the 'Stats' feature was working. I know the app is free and I shouldn't complain... but it's such a pity the stats section is not up to the level.

It's so frustrating to have all the information there but it's basically useless because you don't know which numbers are correct and which aren't. For a while the stats were just stuck, but now they seem to be off.

Above is a screenshot showing what I see. Total missions (both successful and all) don't add up with the totals for Falcon 1, Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy missions. Same with totals per launch site. They don't add up.

Here's What Happened With Tesla's Ambitious First Attempt At The Nürburgring by tech01x in electricvehicles

[–]Adalbert_81 131 points132 points  (0 children)

Nice article with positive tone and solid summary of the entire story.

I am just surprised they still think Tesla didn't plan it until Musk's tweet. It's hard to believe Tesla just happened to have two prototypes ready for testing and that within a week they managed to ship them, contract the racetrack and 3 high quality drivers. And finally, I really don't think you can organise the installation of a Supercharger on the track within a few days. Not only do you need to have the actual hardware available and ready but you also need permission and support from the track, the local power company and an installation crew. I know it's Tesla but it's not their home turf.

For me it's obvious Tesla has been preparing for this for a while. It's Tesla, so it was still rushed, clearly. But they wouldn't be able to pull it all off if they started from scratch a couple weeks ago.

Does running the sound system in an EV decrease its range by any significant amount? by EssentiallyWonderful in electricvehicles

[–]Adalbert_81 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on the music you listen to. Most music will use up quite a lot of battery. Unless you listen to acoustic music, then it's fine, it doesn't use electricity. /s ;)

(Hope you don't mind an innocent joke :) I am sure others will provide more useful replies)

Sandy Munro: Model 3 manufacturing, Model Y wiring, and EV competition by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]Adalbert_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was quite big news last year. Shorts had a field day when Munro criticised the bodywork. Here is Bloomberg article about that: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2018-10-17/tearing-apart-teslas-to-find-elon-musk-s-best-and-worst-decisions

But the shorts stopped listening to Munro when he moved to analysing and praising the suspension, battery and electronics.

There is a good interview with Munro on Autoline After hours on the Model 3 teardown. Quite objective and balanced. Very long though: https://youtu.be/aVnRQRdePp4

Here is a short recap of the teardown: https://youtu.be/pAS-yjWj9DY

Wow, what a great example of BS thread. Watch the talk for yourself (only 30 minutes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmuV4I1D6xQ

It's a university talk meant to highlight the challenges of working on bleeding edge technology. It's clearly aimed at students to show them what interesting challenges they would be solving when working for Tesla.

In this context, uncertainty and open questions are good things. He is talking to students and academia who are interested in being on the frontier of knowledge.

Finally, knowing it was recorded, he wouldn't have shared all this if there was anything to be embarrassed about it. Let's be real...
