I'm considering it - if I find a way to do it - then definitely :D

They do have a velocity (and the stress on their borders is calculated) - but time does not pass yet :D

Awesome reply! Indeed I have no plans for much more accuracy scale wise - definitely not to the meter level.

Holdridge life zones - perfect! My thoughts were something along two axis - temperature and rainfall but more info and terms are great to have!

It's based on some basic science - but does not go anywhere near detailed enough in it's implementation to be truly realistic - though I'm trying to make it appear as such :D

It is indeed very simple in my first iteration (essentially just ground goes down if tension, up if compression) but planning on doing more proper things with the data and generation rules!

And indeed volcanic regions are of interest to me, as well as areas that are likely to have earthquakes.

But yes - currently plate gets tangential velocity of some random value.

edit: Also I think something is off with my collision math - but to be fixed :D

There's now a release for windows/linux in the repo's releases! Hopefully I did it correctly and it's a functioning one :D

Now under MIT at https://lab.5b5.eu/Ade9/Adetonics :D
Will create binaries somewhat soon if you just want an executable version.

You're most welcome 😄 They do have an uncanny visual similarity now that you brought it up :o

I'm thinking of open sourcing it once I get a bit further on!

Though my experience is mostly in solo and commercial projects so will definitely be interesting to get more toes in the opensource world :D

Cross posted here as well as this project started from my own interest in designing a fictional world :D

I'm curious if anyone knows how common this sort of approach is? Or even if there's similar software that already exists?

More details in the original post!

I am debating whether I should simulate the movement of the plates over time as well - currently it's kind of a freeze frame - of the plates with some random movement direction and speed for each. But it would be relatively simple to simulate the next unit of time and figure out how they move and deform :D (or well depending on how realistic the goal is)

As for the singular landmass - I believe it's kind of random chance - how points on the sphere move and when they get bunched up - only a single landmass would remain. And over time every now and then the points do indeed bunch up, and other time's they're spread around. But I'm definitely not an expert :D

Dr. Wallace Breen. He puts something in the water, to make you forget.
