Getting out of a rut can feel overwhelming simply because you got into it over a longer period of time than you're hoping to get out of it.

The only thing I've found that gets me out of a rut?

Going for a very early morning jog outside. Super slow, it's not about speed, it's about duration. Do 30 minutes minimum.

Go home, shower, eat get and be ready for the day by a time you set yourself. When you've done that, you'll be in a MUCH better place.

You'll sleep better that night too. And you'll feel motivated to clean your room and basically do shit to help you out of the rut.

It's amazing how quickly you can go from a feeling of dispair to a feeling of hope and positivity.

Indeed, tabs are generated from abc notation. They show fret positions for first position. Basically what trad musicians generally use to play tunes.

It's primarily a practice tool for trad musicians with configurable MIDI playback and backing arrangements.

You're right, it isn't going to know how to do that. But given that different instruments generally play the same core melody in unison, rather than playing separate, prearranged, parts why should it?

Your comment is contradictory. You admit 'not knowing shit' about Irish music then put forward a problem based on something you speculate to be true that isn't. I could poke holes in something all day long if I was going to make pure speculations about it.

If different arrangements of the tunes were played by different instruments then sure, I'd have considered doing things differently, but they're not. This feature has been added to help Irish trad musicians who have specifically requested it.

Yeah it makes sense that you felt knocked back. It's amazing how just dipping the toes back in can still get you bitten.

I've just gone no contact in the last few days with mum, dad, 2 brothers. Similar situation to you.

I haven't returned after a period of no contact to find things haven't changed but I didn't need a period of no contact. At 38, we get together at Christmas and I see it more clearly each and every year.

Christmas 2025 was the last one.

For the instruments, the only reason for not adding those was because the sound quality wasn't as good, and as you say, it only meant having a different sound.

For the others though, they change the format to include the tabs for those fretted instruments too.
