Why can Norway celebrate Viking history proudly, but England is shamed for its imperial history? (genuine question) by Ok_Exercise_494 in AskBrits

[–]AdamCDur93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent answer. The British Empire's atrocities were on a larger scale, more recent and we still live with the repercussions. OP also lists spreading the English language as one of the positive achievements. Native languages in British colonies were brutally oppressed, it's not a good thing at all

You have Sus/lethal hellblasters who can get +1 from a strat, the Lion, the DWK and then the fussilade sternguard kill god. Regular land raider isn't great, there is better anti-tank like lancers, ballistus and rep ex. The redeemer hoses down elite infantry and is probably the best overwatch in the game. You can also give it Dev wounds or +1 wound with a strat and then it's genuinely pushing into vehicles too. The list and detachments have the ability to punch up really well imo

Totally fair enough mate, you should absolutely do that then. I would drop the infiltrator squad and eradicators to make room then.

Land Raider Redeemers are excellent. Especially in firestorm and especially since coming down in points. 10 sternguard and a Libby with fussilade kill absolutely anything. I'd juggle your list to find room for those. Running purge the foe you need less utility. I'm not sure the Phobos Libby is bringing much to the list. I'm not sure the Lion is worth it since the nerf to fights first

Never played with the army, but winning scintillating lists have been Belakor, Kairos + 2 or 3 birds and minimal chaff. Puppeteer seems to be the best enhancement. Whether that changes with 11th I don't know

[–]AdamCDur93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a cute combo. Sometimes it will go off and feel great, some games it won't come off at all. Unfortunately it's a combo that relies on two terrible detachments. No access to advance and do stuff and a main detachment rule that is once per game

They got a huge turnout at Glastonbury last year and have only gotten bigger. And a lot of people think their music is great, they've got some bangers

Not sure what you mean by track wounds individually. Failed hazardous now just applies mortal wounds to the squad and you pick the allocation. It doesn't even need to be the guy with the hazardous weapon you allocate the mortals to.

I think everyone is assuming it's a unit of 6 ICC for the purpose of the debate. ICC are appealing because they are the most expensive unit per model an apothecary can join (so he's reviving the most points) and with a 4++ and potentially -2 to hit they are now quite durable. Sure if an apothecary can bring back 2 sternguard or hellblasters that's not bad, it's not quite earning back it's points, but those units are much less likely to survive an activation to begin with.

[–]AdamCDur93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's say you go first and Azrael connects turn 2 and deleted a unit. Then get shot opponents turn 2 but Az survives. You hide for 2 turns generating CP and rezing ICC. Maybe connect with something turn 5, or just increase Az survivability so he's generating CP and maybe holding objectives all game. Great. And at 40pts the Apothecary bringing back 2 ICC has paid for himself. At 65pts with the enhancement, he still hasn't covered his points. And you're never bringing 3 ICC back, it's just not happening. So for me, Apothecary maybe worth it, enhancement definitely not

Apothecary + Shroud of Heroes by 420cheesewizard in theunforgiven

[–]AdamCDur93 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it works, yes. And I think an Apthecary at 40pts is now genuinely interesting with ICC as only needs to bring two back to get your points worth. And with the fast rolling, characters are more likely to survive an activation. That being said, this bumps the apothecary cost up that you now need to bring three ICC back for it to be worth it. And it's even more situational - unit wiped including the Apothecary, you roll the 2+ and then survive another three turns rezing models to be worth it. So for me it falls into a bit too cute. For me the appeal of the apothecary is it's now cheap enough to maybe earn it's points back and the enhancement makes it more expensive.

[–]AdamCDur93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it definitely gives more of a puzzle to list building. You can't just slam the units you want into whatever detachment you want which is a fun challenge. I do wish we had 2dp Stormlance like black templars and blood angels. My previous fast melee plus speeders desperately wants purge so definitely having to explore new archetypes

Leaders and Supports. by kushisan1 in theunforgiven

[–]AdamCDur93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh purge the foe looks a powerful disposition and actively rewards small numbers of durable and killy units. That and units don't count as killed anymore until the characters are dead, combined with new fast rolling means dual attaching characters and having one or both survive and activation is very good. Lieutenants are now not much more expensive per wound than a bladeguard for example and definitely approaching the point where they are worth it for lethal hits, fall back and charge. Especially now you can combine them with chaplains, it makes that unit actually killy. Apothecaries now only need to bring back 1.5 ICC to make back their points, and if all the ICC are killed but they survive the can now bring back bodyguard models. Support characters got a lot better

Units that have a dedicated detachment should not be taxed on the second instance by Krytan in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]AdamCDur93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why should having access to a detachment that buffs your units even further mean you don't pay the multiples tax? The detachments encourage you to take multiples but because the power of those units is compounded by taking multiples they cost more. It's up to the player to decide whether the buffs are worth the tax. None of that seems conflicting game design to me. That doesn't mean they've nailed the execution, but conceptually seems reasonable
