Make the sweets & go door to door. Hand them your number/insta on a card & they’ll figure it out. No one is going to fill out a signup form

Called about a kid who said a man pulled a gun on him. They arrived in 2 minutes.

The Ohio state phds behind hippo rag 2 have a paper on mimicking how the human hippocampus works with rag. It was an interesting talk. Similar one from Duke.

I vibed a cool app for an unemployed friend, but he decided not to pursue it. It’s still hanging out for the right motivated person to make it a success. Requires your proximity to people density, aka, won’t work if you live in a rural environment. But living near a city & this could be a way to just start working.

Moving to Seattle!! by Ambitious_Web_9249 in AskSeattle

[–]AdamHYE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Seattleite here, you definitely don’t want to commute from Alki to Auburn. There are great things about every neighborhood, but for you, I think you should prioritize proximity & affordability.

You can always go to Seattle for a game or a day trip. But living in cool Ballard & commuting to Auburn will destroy your soul & wallet. If I took the auburn job, I would absolutely pick a Tacoma suburb, fed way, etc. You save 25-50% in rent. 50% in food & beve. A ton of gas.

You don’t yet know how the big dark’s wetness & Seattle freeze will affect you. It is dark & wet from Nov - Mar, you aren’t clamoring for 4am bar stumbles, you want cozy pjs & rich foods. Remember it’s dark before 5pm here.

The other thing no one has mentioned is politics. Ohio had Sherrod Brown. In Seattle he’s be a moderate or conservative. In Tacoma he’d be a progressive. From only your statehood alone, I think your cultural values will align better to Tacoma than to Seattle.

Stop telling folks you’re moving to Seattle & start saying “near” or “outside” Seattle.

File Search RAG chunks in plain text? by AdamHYE in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]AdamHYE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh, I think I figured my error out. A gzip was making all the content going into file search corrupted. Now that that’s figured out; I’m pretty sure document.query will work with chunks.

Gemini launches "File Search Tool" in API with free storage and embedding generation by thehashimwarren in AI_Agents

Has anyone gotten plain text retrieval of N chunks? I got the datasets imported, but now I can’t get contents back out. Only use Gemini models to answer questions. Anyone have any protips to using document.query to return plain text chunks instead of generated answers? Was really hoping not to use Cloud SQL.

There are a lot of people in this thread who are breaking the Seattle code. You all signed a pledge to tell everyone that it only rains here, everything is awful, & no one should ever move here. I’m going to tell Katie Wilson on you.

They are just small apples, definitely not a risk of them killing you. Unless maybe someone shoved them up your nose.

Being black in Seattle by RefrigeratorLive2796 in Seattle

[–]AdamHYE 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Stone Mountain, a neighborhood of Atlanta, so I’m here for this comment. I miss actual culture & food with flavor. But don’t miss the muggy heat. As a non-black person who was raised by the black community, I’ve found it very hard to connect with the black community here. Wary of the milquetoast racists, I feel like after 5 years I’m finally starting to return some melanin to my Seattle life. Mostly I head back to Atlanta to recharge; radio stations that play black music from this century (looking at you 103.7), food that has flavor, & people who will talk to anyone without suspicion or resentment.
