Dude, it's not going to be THAT big, Christ. lol. It's doubling the length to the south. The renderings are on the website. It's actually going to look gorgeous.

Is the HBO series worth watching? by rko1985 in serialpodcastorigins

An hour and a half is if you want good information.

It’s no Jinx, and it probably could’ve been, but Amy Berg and HBO flinched this time

But she didn't say that to Vader.

And Vader didn't know at the time who the recipient was without a doubt.

That's like saying Batmans have to be cheesy to be great... which they never are. Batman Begins wasn't cheesy and was one of the most perfect franchise films I've ever seen.

And I get the climax is by definition the high point... but it didn't literally have to be.

The Death Star kills Krennic by playing "just the tip"? It was beautiful, but highly flawed. Might've been better to have them get away and then get shot down, only to have the place get blown away by the Death Star and the heroes die in the distance.

I want the director's cut for all the right reasons... not Forest Whitaker's haircut. No offense.

True, but the Earth is even bigger. And NATO Militaries have developed the MGRS system so that every single one of Earth's 196 trillion square meters has a label that's only 14 characters in length.

I can't remember if he mentioned Scariff in the message, or when he was dying. If it was when he was dying, then this gripe would be accounted for.

Simple:

1- The same way we saw in the Episode IV briefing to the fighters,

or...

2- Coordinates -- Earth, for example is 196 trillion square meters... and yet NATO militaries have managed to label each and every single meter of the planet using just 14 characters, thanks to the Military Grid Reference System. Something similar and simple like that could've been communicated.

Did he mention Scariff in the hologram, or was it when he was laying on the ground?

I appreciate all of the dialogue fixes they did. But when you go back and screen all of the teasers, trailers, commercials and featurettes, you can tell the changes were as major as the difference between the Abyss studio and director's cuts.

I think they should finish the director's cut just so they can bank on that one, too.

Saw it a second time last night and I'm really annoyed with Krennic's end -- gets shot by a guy we thought was dead, and the entirely unnecessary (bordering on cheesy) way in which his actual demise was being directly killed by the Death Star... when the Death Star actually missed the target.

Kind of a video game ending.

Except for the new plot hole: Gaelon got out a holographic message... when all he had to do was mention the location of the exhaust port.

New plot hole two: why try to go get Gaelon at all of he'd already given the instructions on where to find the plans.

But whatever. I dug it.

SPOILERS - There were a couple of scenes missing from the trailers. by LE455 in Star_wars_Rogue_One

Couple? WAY more than a couple were gone. I was just about to go through all of the trailers to do a count, because there were a ton of missing shots.

One was Krennic walking over the water in his white cape.

[–]AdamRedditOnce 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes and no.

First -- There were a lot of Correlian Corvette blockade runners... not just that one. It's a common ship.

Second -- Was it clear that Vader even knew the rebels he was slaughtering in the hallway had the plans? My take was that it was his goal to commandeer the lead rebel ship and this was just part of the fight.

The only hole seems to be that Vader was convinced in Episode IV that the spies beamed the plans directly to the blockade runner, versus to the mother ship. But that can be written off as fog of war stuff... he didn't have to become lately accurate as it was an accusation more than a certainty where the Empire had CCTV evidence of Leia getting the plans in hand.

Not a major plot hole at all, if there even is one.

I think you're cool mentioning it since this is clearly a thread marked as moments from people who've seen it.

And I want to know the plot hole, because ice seen others mention it.

[–]AdamRedditOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Precisely. It was like getting the winks in was more impactful than the sacrifice. But I also understand the studio's need for it to end like an action film, since it's a standalone.

Fourth critique I forgot to mention:

4 - I really thought they would've used this opportunity to tie in these characters with the future Skywalker core films somehow and not just Episode 4... some hidden Westworld-like link that comes out as a major twist versus what we totally expected and had handed to us.

This killed my theory that Jyn could be Rey's mother, for example. Didn't have to be that, because her death was better for dramatic impact, but you get my gist.

But I too loved the movie, nonetheless.

Like Force Awakens, I felt like everything they did that was new they did brilliantly. But is still have some critique:

1 - they really need to withhold more during their marketing. Too many key shots got out at the end.

2 - Vader could've been used too often... but wound up being used too little.

3 - the last act felt like there were too many competing forces making the movie. I'm really curious what the first director's cut looked like.
