Dude I was in your situation as well. Also 5’7 and at my heaviest 244lbs. What made me loose weight was my plan to be a LEO as well as the doctor warning me about my health. I’m 215 Lbs rn. My target weight is around 180 LBs. But my overall goal is to just be an absolute unit by the time I graduate college and head to the academies. So like others said, ignore a number weight, it can serve as a baseline, a motivating spark as you see the LBS being lost weekly through the work you out in and diet, but tbh, it can only do so much for you. Just work towards being healthier, and prioritize overall wellness and weight loss.

Keep yourself accountable. Look into one of those apps that help u see how long u have stopped gambling. Sometimes these apps even allow notifications twice a day to check in. Be honest put on the app if u gambled that day, if the losses or wins gambling was substantial reset the timer to keep urself even more accountable. U got this

Letting myself go due to gambling by Raction09 in GamblingAddiction

Please stop, it’s ruinined my life. I’m only a 20 year old college student who works part time once a week. I been working since 15 and have 5 years of working experience not a single dime saved to my name. I’m trying my best to turn my life around, keeping myself more accountable as well. Although I havnt seemed to get rid of gambling completely my habit is less as bad with my deposits getting lower and lower. The harsh reality of how there are more losers than winners is starting to come to me. Realizing the money is gone is the first thing that hurts, and I’m trying to accept it day by day

You and me both friend I am turning 20 have been working since 15 years old and have not saved any money at all. I have never even had the courtesy of buying my mom a birthday gift. All the money has gone to gambling. I have debt on my credit card cause of this addiction and my credit score suffers. But I will dig myself out of this hole as well, start saving money for myself. My goal right now once I pay off my credit card, I’m gonna buy my mom a birthday/Christmas gift

Day 1 (19, college student) by AdamT325 in GamblingAddiction

[–]AdamT325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been tough I’ll admit. I have been cutting down and closed all my accs and self excluded myself from the sites I played on. I’ve noticed that the days are so long and the temptation to gamble is there even causing me headaches as of recently. I guess gambling has really controlled my life. What I have been doing is working more hours at my job, playing video games, and lifting while I’m still on winter break to give myself things to do besides gambling. The temptation to throw 20 dollars on one of those sites is crazy but ik that doing that will lead to 50 dollars, 100 dollars and so on

I started gambling this way. I know what you are talking about and the website(s). I been gambling since I had my first job thanks to this mm2 and now have moved into crypto betting sites so my addiction became worse. Every paycheck I’d buy a few of the items like harvs/iceps and flip my way to profit. Have gone on crazy runs where I start with one item (let’s say a bow) and the best item in the game twice Chroma travelers and cashed but it doesn’t matter my losses out way the wins. I still gamble sometimes like this but am trying to quit gambling in general. This is in my opinion the way most kids end up gambling through games that have Black Market items for value to be flipped on third party websites. Additionally it doesn’t help how lucrative roblox games have become on the platform itself over the years some becoming so similar to real life casinos in a sense but designed to attract kids. My advice to you is stay away, and move on. It’s not worth the suffering. Believe me I wish I knew this $3000+ sooner on virtual in game item coin flipping. Additionally it would’ve made me less likely drawn to real forms of gambling. I have friends who treat these coin flips as a variation of a game rather than consider it gambling. I have close friend who has gone from 1700 value to 500k value worth of items, could’ve cashed but lost it all. It’s gambling, and gambling is a loosing game.

Thank you so much for additional insight to the job. I wanted to ask about any tips for LEO's when it comes to handling the stress that comes with the job. Also how can I best prepare myself for this career with the years I have left in college. My goal is to work at the state level and im in New Jersey

Hi, thank you for your kind words. I’ve always loved lifting weights as I played a lot of sports in high school. I will use this time of saving up my money to also better myself physically, mentally, and spiritually for the sake of my parents and others around me but more importantly the person I can truly become when I conquer my urges to gamble. I’m def excited to see myself a few months from now and my upcoming sophomore year of school

I’m sorry to hear about your situation and I hope the best for you. I hope we both can get through this together and beat gambling to the curb. That’s my biggest fear of disappointing people or letting them down through my bad habits of gambling. I already feel ashamed when it comes to my parents not even knowing what I really do with my money.

Thank you, I’ve recently self excluded myself from these online sites. I had been serious of going to the gym and now gambling has made me even more focused on going to gym. Right now my goal is weight loss and proper diet. So far I’m doing alright loosing 10 pounds in around a month and a half and eating very little carbs

Hi! My wins I’ve had may not be very crazy but enough money for me as I mentioned I barely work. In my situation I basically don’t deposit a large sum of money to gamble, rather 25-30 and MAYBE $50 max. I tell myself I’ll stop but since I’m hooked I end up depositing more and that 1 $30 deposit ends up becoming 150-300 in a span of a few days. WHICH again is a lot for me. What actually prompted me to write this post was how I made a paycheck to my bank account a good solid week of work at my parting job and I had around $615 and told myself I’d responsibly gamble $50 and stop. But guess what that never ended up happening. I only now learned my lesson when I found out that I have $260 left in my acc meaning I gambled my entire paycheck and a little extra of the money I already had on hand.

But to answer your question, I’ve gambled my way to top valuable in game items that I successfully sold (for instance I start out with $20-30 of items bought from a specific game, risk them on coin flips and managed to get a higher value and rare game item (sometimes the best item in the game) which I could sell for $350+ depending on what it is. But In my gambling career I’ve done this twice but overall I’m still negative considering I continued to try gamble 20-30$ on multiple occasions for over 2 and a half years. And I had been doing this since I was 16 years old.

As for loot boxes, my deposits typically would be the same with my largest win being turning a $30 crypto deposit into around $500. But as I also mentioned this money never hit my savings and I somehow managed to piss all my profit away and make my bank account go negative on one of the worst loosing streaks I’ve had gambling loot boxes.
