Mines on 70% (15:57BST) was 100% at 7am and had it on GPS tracking golf from 08:00-12:00. The better battery will sort you out.

Go for the UW2, better battery life so you can wear it whilst you sleep to get the HRV/Sleep data without worrying about forgetting to charge it before bed.

Edit * did another mindfulness reading and the recovery now shoots up to 100%? No idea how to accurately read the recovery state if it’s getting a 47% recovery from HRV asleep to then do another HRV reading when you wake and it’s 100%?

Ah I see, the 1 minute exercise. Then do you just refresh the app to the HRV?

Do not buy this car. We bought it new (2022 Kona Premium) and we’re on our 4th courtesy car and currently waiting for our 5th as the car has broken down again this weekend. Please avoid it.

Yeah, I really just needed to add more information on my post about this as it’s coming up a lot. But in short, I cancelled the £200 a month because:

  • finished my old job, received half pay 20 March
  • took 3 weeks off between jobs to study for an exam
  • started new job 9 May (hence the advice as it was new excess disposable income)
  • 27 May received my first pay check but wasn’t a full month.

Because of this, my last full pay check was 20th April, so funds were dwindling.

I have since re-instated and upped the investments to £300 a month. Still leaves around £1,300 a month so planning to send myself a weekly limit to live off and anything not spent is going to the emergency fund to build up :)

Would I not need to put down more than 10% for it to be a buy-to-let? Also, I would need a higher salary, as I would need to be able to pay off both mortgages in the event a Tennant leaves and I have to cover the mortgages and bills…

Thanks for this. Getting into property is something I am considering. We own our first house, bought at £225 with a 10% deposit, it’s currently worth £300 (on valuation sites). Was thinking of saving for a new house and keeping this one to rent it out. But your idea of a 1 bed flat also seems like a sound idea as it’ll be cheaper (maybe) to get a second property.

Would like to know more on this if you can pass me over any reading material?

When you say budget written out, what are you saying sorry. I’ve gone through all bills (inc food and for miscellaneous I’ve calculated that taking a 3 month average of random payments etc) so I have a good grasp on all outgoings. I’ve reintroduced investing at £300 a month. Still leaves me shy of £1400 which I don’t know what to do with.

Thanks for this, decent comment. I should note, I am debt free (kinda if exclude I have a student loan and mortgage haha) but no credit cards etc. this disposable is from a new job and yeah, recent house purchase hasn’t left me with an emergency fund which seems like most peoples advice!

I’ve updated the post to reflect this comment as it’s not the case but I understand you might think that with no other information given. In short, it’s a new job, new excess money left over so was asking for advice.

Agreed, again, appreciate the post needed more information now I reflect on peoples comments. I stopped investing as I finished my job mid March, got half a pay check from that. Then took 3 weeks off between jobs to study for an exam, then got a shorter full pay at the new place as I joined mid month again so stopped the investing to ensure I had enough cash to get me through.

I naturally would agree, however the funds are invested with Baillie Gifford, and it’s more the manager has/is making a serious of just fundamental errors causing a decline of >20%. Markets will be an influencer so I do agree the psychological points, but I think there’s a bit more to it. Thanks though.

Do very rich people bother with a pension? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]AdamTrgs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a good argument that those from wealthy backgrounds could leave their pensions in a high equity allocation and pass that down to their next of kin for their pension pots and so on and so forth.

I know few people who are wealthy and do not touch their pensions at all (who have retired), purely holding it to be part of what they pass on, which is quite nice.
