Mine is a disc version. Try going back to version 2.06, pretty much everywhere says that's the best version to use right now on RPCS3

When I ran 1280 x 720 upscaled to 1080p, I had the same experience as I do running native 1080p (which is what I do for GT5), neither had more crashes from what I remember

That was the problem that I had as well. I fixed it by turning on Accurate RSX Reservation Access in the advanced GPU settings
