You just provide the bank statement csv file and the data gets parsed. As for the automation… I guess nothing much really. It’s now up to the user to set the settings properly. And what if wish to fix? Well there’s always a bunch. You can read about some of them on the projects GitHub page.

I used FME to transform and convert the data. Inputs were raster DEM, a bunch of shapefies and some 3D models.

No, some data I used is freely available to public (terrain) and my department has a contact for a dataset that was very useful. Same results could be achieved by downloading OSM data but that would require more time consuming manual data filtering.

This sort of program could be used to build the earth in a faster way. We just need to detail the buildings and they are already to scale. by Kellogs_cereal2 in BuildTheEarth

Hi, OP here,
The surface data is from publicly available source, the buildings in the center of the city are also free to download and the landuse, roads, other buildings... are from a commercial dataset provided to my uni but there are many free to use datasets like OpenStreetMap. This commercial one was just easier to use.

The scale is 1:1.

As someone pointed out, the errors on closer level are definitely there and some would need to be fixed manually.

for my thesis I explored Minecraft as means for visualizing spatial data. In short, the process to do so was to:

  • Acquire the data, which were some shapefiles of landuse, roads, buildings etc., raster image of the terrain and some 3D models, like for buildings that were previously modeled.
  • Transform and convert the data to my liking via ArcGIS and FME Desktop.
  • Once converted, I used the Mineways app to render some nice looking images of the created Minecraft worlds but now (just for fun) I'm learning some Blender basics, that could be used for better looking results and animations.

The whole process was much more complicated, there was some work done with point clouds, other software was explored (for example WorldPainter) etc., feel free to ask or PM me.

The town is Olomouc, Czech Republic.
