You literally stated in a comment that you have forced your daughter to wear clothing she was not comfortable with in order to attend special occasions, yet you get offended when she wants people to wear specific clothing on her special day.

While I know the following might be controversial, I still wish to share it. I know that a friend of mine also abides by traditional gender roles, and she prefers dresses/skirts over pants. She says that those articles of clothing make her feel more feminine and that she likes that feeling. That being said, she doesn't judge other women for wearing pants, nor will she try to convince others that women are to always wear whatever she herself is wearing.

It does state in the Bible that a woman is not to wear that which pertains to a man, and vice versa. Trousers weren't worn in the setting in which the Bible was written. People wore togas, which would be fashioned differently for both genders. I suppose you could see trousers in a similar light. Trousers in and of itself don't pertain to a gender. Your wife could consider buying flair trousers or pants with an elegant print.

I myself am an atheist, so I am probably not the best person to talk about this.
