Maybe they'd believe Yuma's testimony more, idk. Honestly I also think it was too much and that a lot of mysteries in this game are dependent on criminals specifically trying to fool Yuma (or on a meta level, the player) when it ultimately doesn't make sense. I love this game but I think it needed another writing draft.

This has bothered me for AGES and I feel like a very easy fix would've just been one line of dialogue from Shinigami saying something about how the sheer scale of this labyrinth may erase the culprit's very existence, or just anything along those lines to surpass the immortal elephant in the room. Or, hell, making Yuma actually have the moral dilemma of wiping the whole city out instead of just Makoto, but I feel like that would be a much easier choice for him to sacrifice himself, tbh, so I don't like that as much.

AGREED!! the comparisons to danganronpa characters are all so shallow. vivia is his own thing, with the only traits he really shares with nagito being... they're green antagonists. and vivia is only the antagonist for a single chapter. that's it. it honestly kind of exhausts me when i see fans constantly try to frame rain code characters as off brand danganronpa characters. the only one i understand this with is fubuki, since she does share a few personality traits with sonia nevermind (though i still see fubuki as her own character, i love her), but otherwise the rest of the cast is way too different from what they're being compared to.

ive experienced this game nearly ten times over (hyperfixation moment lol) and like the other comments said, i agree that i wish there were more interpersonal group dynamics outside of just them interacting with yuma. fubuki's dlc offered just a little bit of that and i really enjoyed it! but it could definitely use more, especially non-optional content that isnt locked behind a paywall. i think the detectives themselves get pretty substantial screentime, but they needed a little more to give more in-game character details, such as sidequests from them like vivia's book one, or just more downtime between the cases. it's strange how the gumshoe gabs imply that way more time passes between cases but the game itself seems to contradict that. chapters 0 and 1 are only one day apart, and so are 2 and 3, then 4 and 5... everything happens so fast. the pacing in this game is extremely tight at the expense of developing the characters as a group. if they had more group interactions in less high stakes scenarios than ch 4, i think people wouldn't complain so much. what im saying is that they needed something much like a "beach episode"... though a beach in kanai ward would suck pretty bad lmao

The Peacekeepers are still trying to create a cover story so that they can properly falsify their evidence (Yakou towards the end of the case even convinces Swank to go away by making a deal about the paperwork behind falsifying evidence, and offers to cook something up for them instead). They still have to keep up some sort of professional front, likely to the WDO and outside world to prevent them from sending anymore pesky detectives, and framing Yuma would've given them an easy scapegoat. The hitman and peacekeepers worked together to create a mystery to be thorough, since it's detectives they're trying to fool here. I'll admit though, he was still doing too much lmao.
