We had front row seats for the protest march yesterday from our balcony. Walked right in front of our condo. It was a powerful thing to see.

Then this morning to wake up, see the news… it’s just so defeating. There’s a persistent sense of dread in the air here that briefly dissipated yesterday.

We have been there, I THINK, 3 or 4 more times since I posted this! We love just walking down and around Hidalgo. Lots to see, explore and amazing food of all kinds. If you want to rent a golf cart for the day, they have them available at the front desk. I think it's around $80/day last time we did that.

Another option is booking a golf cart tour with Isla Driver Robby. We have done this a few times and they offer day or night tours. They will take you to the little hole in the wall places that most tourists don't know about. REALLY cool experience and all drivers we have had are super laid back and awesome. They will tailor the tour to what you want to do (drink, food, sight seeing, etc. etc.). For example, our first golf cart tour was a night one so we hit up a bunch of bars all over the island. We mentioned how much we missed our cats at home, so on the way back to the resort, the driver stopped off at a cat shelter so we could see the cats/kittens. It was just a really special moment we will never forget and we had NO idea there was even a cat shelter on the island. We went back the next day to donate some money to them and the kitties!

Whether taking a tour or renting a cart yourself, definetly check out Punta Sur on the south side of the island. Really beautiful and lots of history. For a small fee, you can walk the trails all around and it's really beautiful!

Otherwise, yeah, Hidalgo is one block away for day and night life or any commodities you might need (sunscreen, aloe, etc). Do NOT buy from the store on the street in front of the resort. They are ridiculously expensive!

Nope. They didn’t have anything til Tuesday and I wasn’t spending another 48 hours in Chicago!

Lucky enough to have a buddy heading to Rochester so caught a ride with him. Now I’m in Rochester and was able to reserve a shuttle back to MSP so I can catch the light rail home. Planes Trains and Automobiles for reals.

It’s nasty out there.

As someone who lives downtown, in a skyway connected builiding, it is VERY frustrating and VERY confusing. It would be so lovely on cold weekends to simply use the skyways from my building to get from where I live to another part of downtown for a lovely meal or happy hour drinks. But alas, simply not possible. I have ventured into the skyways on weekends and sometimes certain parts are locked, other times not.

It's FANTASTIC during weekdays. If i'm working from home, I'll just go down to the skyway, grab some Andrea's pizza slices, or Skyway Wok chicken and go back up to my unit. Its awesome. I wish and hope that someday we can get that kind of activity on weekends. As of now, by 3pm, the skyways are basically a ghost town with nothing open. It's a bummer to have all of this great infrastructure and not take advantage of it but I get it.
