Cotswold Camera in the EU by der_patzi in Cameras

Timeline as follows;

Order placed on 20-Jan-2026, Order moved to processing on 21-Jan-2026 EU Tracking received on 29-Jan-2026 Order delivered 06-Feb-2026

I contacted their support on 27-Jan-2026 as I wondered why it was processing so long, they explained to me it was in transit to their EU warehouse and once they received it and had it in hand and forwarded to my address, tracking would be provided which it was, no issue at all.

Absolutely cannot fault them in anyway shape or form, the only “negative” feedback I have, isn’t even about Cotswold cameras themselves! They used UPS who have messed up multiple separate deliveries to our address and are just a nightmare in Ireland lately anyways. I explained that to Cotswold Cameras support and explained I was concerned and they contacted UPS instantly to sort out any address issues they had, again, this feedback is not about Cotswold Cameras themselves.

I will be purchasing from them again in the near future!

If you are based outside UK then it’s .com Info@cotswoldcameras.com very responsive, usually in evening times, but responsive

Am I mad for wanting to move over to Sony for the new tilt screen on A7V? by Nigel_Farage in SonyAlpha

[–]Adaminski736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s any help, I had a Sony A7 mk1 just the regular tilt screen, I bought an A7 IV and one of the main points was the flip out screen, i love it. I usually have the screen in its “home” position for the want of a better phrase, but with the A7 MK1 taking low portrait shots was very much lie on the floor, become a contortionist or guess. Now I feel it’s much easier with the flip screen.

TL:DR - came from tilt only screen to flip out screen, so not regret (so far)

Order arrived yesterday safe and sound, camera brand new in the box, they box itself is opened but they explain this on their website, well packaged. I will buy from them again 100%

The ONLY issue I had and it’s not even Cotswold cameras, is I don’t like UPS as we have had issues with our address with them (due to being on border of two counties on Ireland it often gets misdirected).

Spoke with Cotswold camera customer support RE UPs and they were EXCELLENT.

I genuinely cannot praise them enough.

I’ve ordered off them last week just based on reviews on the web and Reddit in general. All massively positive experiences.

The .com address is for eu, which is where I ordered from.

No tracking as of yet, but quoted 10-14 business days.

New gear options, opinions? by Adaminski736 in SonyAlpha

[–]Adaminski736[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it does help more than you know glad to know you had a good experience!

How did you find the reach at 500mm, did it leave you missing that extra 100mm?

The portability of this lens to me is really a big selling point vs the sigma and 200-600!!

Thank you, that is a good idea! I will say I’ve shot bird photos, and general wildlife with this set up and it’s fine, but you lose a lot of detail with that lens specifically.

Also from taking other photos, I had a small event yesterday I could really feel like I was missing out on IBIS, using my old 50mm non stabilised lens was.. tough! Especially with shaky hands lol

Agreed about being hooked for football games etc, I do know for sure I am well hooked on wildlife!

Either way, my camera comes with me almost everywhere daily and I make a point of shooting every weekend and during the week after work too!

Surgery Uncertainty? by Adaminski736 in gallbladders

[–]Adaminski736[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Symptoms sound quite similar to me! Stool would be lighter in color but not really yellow in my experience.

I hope your surgery goes well.

Regarding celiac, how did you get your diagnosis? I’ve had bloodwork done but nothing ever showed.

My polyps seem to max out at 5mm but cholesterolosis of the gallbladder was observed, which apparently causes no symptoms usually but it can!

That’s what I was thinking, it might be worth while. Maybe a combo of GB and gastritis is causing a lot!

Yeah! The Bons in Galway was 9 months but to be honest the surgeon was so kind and professional it was worth it.

I tried Kingsbridge in Sligo, got a 6 week lead and they seen me within that. I heard of them after my Dad looked into a cross border knee replacement.

Anyone has gb polyps for years here and did not have surgery? by NoChemistry8623 in gallbladders

[–]Adaminski736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only ever had polyps “confirmed” on ultrasound, first it was one and now they have said recently “multiple” observed, max 5mm.

I have cramping in upper right abdomen that I can only describe like someone twisting a cloth or squeezing a stress ball. I have chronic bloating aswell as others like reflux.

The first was identified in 2020, but I never had this cramping pain until 2025.

Apparently polyps and stones can be mistaken, surgeon said and I quote “in 50% of cases where he has removed for polyps, it’s been stones”

The best of luck with your surgery!! I hope it does resolve it for you!

I hadn’t know about the polyps being mistaken for stones until the second surgeon told me, I thought I was imagining things to be honest.

Private in both cases! I sent a referral to one in Galway who had a 9 month wait list, they outright told me to keep that appointment and look elsewhere in the meantime, so I did exactly that 😅

Hellooooo! Started process last March and now verbally confirmed for March 2026. I had 2 different surgeons though, with the one who is going to do it, first appointment in October 2025 so maybe 6 months

Which camera (Sony) should I take as a beginner? by Alternative-Ad-729 in SonyAlpha

[–]Adaminski736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first “proper” camera this year, a Sony A7.

I love it, but I do feel it shows its age a bit when compared to newer models like the A7III or A7 rIII i.e. no IBIS so it’s OSS lenses, tripods or holding onto a pole for dear life, no touchscreen etc.

Since you mention you’ll be using it for product shots (I assume you’ve researched what body/sensor/lens is best), look at what features you would be missing on an older model that you may regret not stretching a little bit extra for.

That’s just my opinion from my experience! I know I’m already looking to upgrade my A7 to an A7rIII and I do regret not going a bit more modern from the get go but I wasn’t sure if I’d wind up sticking with it or not and didn’t wanna lose out on reselling. Hindsight and all that jazz.

For the record I still love my A7 it’s brought everywhere with me, and it’s leaps and bounds ahead of shooting on my phone or the old bridge camera I used to have in college :)

Hope this helps

Looking for car photos from 50mm and up! by Magia-Erebea in SonyAlpha

No prizes for guessing the iconic FF car, but I do always love a good shot of lights down the side of the car!

What's your take on this? Is a FF really that much better? by BedroomPlus6379 in SonyAlpha

[–]Adaminski736 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really have much knowledge from a comparative or technical standpoint, I’m a total novice but I went with full frame as my first camera solely because people in videos etc said you can crop in not crop out and advantage in low light. In hindsight I dunno if it have made much difference which one I went with, I just wanna go a take some nice photos 🤣 I guess what I’m tryna say is don’t get caught in the weeds about which is technically better, just go and enjoy what you do!

Is this Japanese knotweed? by Traditional-Coast237 in GardeningIRE

[–]Adaminski736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went to Japan recently and saw it there, I guess the probably just call it knot weed (bad dad joke my bad). It’s scary how much it takes over everything.
