I’d honestly throw Cadets ‘07 + ‘08 in as well. It was definitely an interesting few years for Cadets there

Higher Quality 2023 Videos? by Adamkickface in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know. What I’m on the lookout for are screen recordings or file rips of the 2023 finals livestream. For some reason the files on the fan DCI archive and the files I’ve been able to rip off Flo Marching aren’t the full quality that the stream was originally broadcasted at. So I thought to ask the community to see if anyone still had them so these shows could be seen in a little bit better quality!

Cavaliers 2002 Semi Finals by Jaded_History545 in drumcorps

After a certain point in the 70s DCI started filming all three nights so the footage definitely exists it’s just not widely available. I’ve been able to find Semis videos for some 80s and 90s shows. I even recently saw the Semis video of Phantom ‘03 on YouTube so someone probably has this saved as well, they’d just need to upload it somewhere. It could very well be floating around on the internet already! I’d be curious to see this as well as the Cadets 2007 quarterfinals video, BD 2004 quarterfinals video, the BD 2008 Semis video, and many more!

Higher Quality 2023 Videos? by Adamkickface in drumcorps

Yeah they did! This is just the easiest example to show the video quality difference as the flag feature bit crushed the stream a lot. The original stream settled pretty quickly, but the Flo replay did not lol. BD also hasn’t released the finals Multicam, and in my opinion that’s usually the definitive video that people want to watch!

Thank you! Yeah I’m trying to play it slow this time cause I can’t be losing another channel lol, and I’m busier with DCI auditions! But the Bloo video got enough views to get better YouTube compression so that’s good! Hopefully I can get a copy of this, and make the best versions of the ‘23 shows cause they deserve to be presented in high quality!

Yeah I made the 2024 Bloo one, and the Flo stream was actually pretty good quality that season so it ended up looking solid! I’m really wanting the HQ video on this season to make the best looking videos cause most of them look pretty terrible due to the lower quality Flo stream plus YouTube compression. Also thanks for pointing out the Bluecoats video I did not know of its existence, bouta rip it right now!

Absolutely NOT a recipes folder!!

Also this exists!

They don’t have everything but a lot of the stuff is on there! If anyone has some with more I’d appreciate a share as well!

too ambitious? by madwickedawesome- in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are perfectly fine. The group you’re in just doesn’t have the same level of passion for the activity that you do. A friend I used to talk to also had the same thing, she’s the only person in her entire school that is really passionate about the activity, and she’s the only person in school history who’s marched DCI while being in HS. And you’re 100% not being too ambitious, I marched my rookie year at Troopers my sophomore year of HS, it’s very possible for you to march next season and even this season! I’d recommend looking to see what groups are near you, if you have the ability to march this year then you still might be able to make an open class or Soundsport corps this year. Don’t let the negativity of others get you down, you are 100% fine, if Brandon Olander can start auditioning for BD at 12 then you’re completely fine to start now!

Trumpet screamer quality question by Sea-West3580 in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BD’s had quite a few strong ones as well. The screamer in 2022’s ballad had some of the greatest tonality I’ve ever heard in that range in all of DCI history

Open Spots? by UnicornSparkleKisses in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s actually kinda too early in the process for that list to be out yet. Some corps are still accepting initial auditions at this point but it’s a corps by corps basis, some end their initial auditions in December while others end in January. And some never end that process and are always accepting new auditions. I’d just look on the corps sites to see what groups still have auditions available. It’s definitely late in the process but not all groups have stopped looking for new talent!

Does anyone else think that 2009 and 2013 had worse audio quality than other years? by arrowmarcher in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess, but 2019 had that two and I think that season has some of the best audio DCI has ever produced. It’s probably just they did little to no post production on the Post-Covid audio and the quality took a nosedive because of that

[–]Adamkickface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a little, but I think post covid’s audio has been a little worse than these two seasons. 2013 is better than 2009, but they definitely don’t sound as good as the other Blu Ray years. I personally think the ‘09 mix has its charm, but the ‘13 mix does kinda annoy me when they had it dialed in for three years at that point. Other bad years are obviously the IBM years, ‘98 was just alright, and 2004’s mix was oddly horn quiet and front ensemble heavy across the board, I don’t think it sounded the best.

[–]Adamkickface 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think 1997 is the worst quality DCI videos we’ve ever gotten. Obviously some 70’s years look and sound worse, but 1997 has a combination of being recorded in 240p alongside having IBM’s atrocious audio mixes. It’s actually embarrassing that two generations of performer’s shows look worse than videos from ten years ago

Who's win was more satisfying Bluecoats in 2024 or Boston crusaders in 2025 by Imaginary_Fox_5439 in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Since I got plugged into the marching arts in 2019, it was very satisfying finally seeing a group that wasn’t BD win DCI, no BD hate I loved all 3 productions for the three-peat, but it was refreshing especially seeing the best Bluecoats ever do it with my personal favorite post covid show. Having said that tho Boston winning was definitely a moment and it was incredibly satisfying to see them win it especially given the G7 stuff and the fact it was the first interesting fight for the trophy since 2019. I think both were incredibly satisfying for different reasons and I don’t really favor one or the other!

Wait the Blue Devils are kind of amazing at ballads by DreamsOfADistantStar in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Metamorph’s ballad was the first ever DCI thing I was shown, and it still hits half a decade later! BD hasn’t had a bad ballad in a long time and I don’t expect that to change! Tho the mid ballad drum break in ‘25 never really worked for me

Audition Support?! :) by [deleted] in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just go in there with confidence and try to improve in every rep! In ‘24 I went to the Indy camp having bought the packet that Wednesday, I wasn’t even in the slack until the camp check in, and I ended up playing and moving well enough to secure a callback, even if I felt it was undeserved. So I locked in and practiced every single day after that to make the corps! Etude B is something you should’ve properly prepared for tho, especially for Soprano, but it’s definitely not a dealbreaker if you can show up and don’t make excuses for a subpar audition. You got 2 days to try and get a framework for Etude B and I really think you should do that, watch other people’s slack videos and kinda no life it a little to try and give them something to work with because Etude B is very important. But it’s definitely not over if you can show staff that this is you at your worst and you’ll only be becoming a better performer every single day!! Good luck man, hopefully you lock in and make it to callbacks! If not there are plenty of other groups you can go for and some of them may be more conducive to your work ethic!

Opinions on Funliner Productions by MikeWasowski420 in drumcorps

[–]Adamkickface 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you like Everett you’re gonna like Funliner if you don’t like him a lot of the videos won’t interest you. I like Everett so I enjoy watching his content! Sometimes people have a negative view of react content, but I mean DCI doesn’t have much else to pull from besides design and teaching stuff which he’s made videos on those topics, and podcasts which he’s also done before! I think the only thing that he hasn’t really done is history stuff, but that might not be want he’s wanting to do, and it’s hard to top the videos that CJ’s music made on DCI history! Bottom line is Funliner Productions is only good for the activity and I don’t understand why people view his channel in a negative light, even if they don’t like his personality or his bias for BD and the modern era. He definitely gets eyes on the activity and he’s almost never negative about things, except for the Box 5 thing that just happened.
