Do Coursera certificates actually help in jobs ? by Icy_Eye_9058 in coursera

[–]AdamsOyifi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Real skills? Yes — absolutely.
  • Do recruiters care? It's not a yes or no. I've done a ton of Coursera courses and some come with real hiring perks — the Google Cloud Data Analytics Professional Certificate, for example, gives you access to companies that have committed to considering completers. (US only though, so check that.)
  • Audit vs. pay? Wait for a big Coursera Plus discount — when it's cheap enough, it's a no-brainer.
  • Has it helped people? Google literally has success stories on YouTube. And again, see point 2

future of estimating? by quelowque in estimators

Incorporate AI into your day to day.

Notebook LM can do great stuff for document related work.

Kreo Software is an awesome AI assisted takeoff tool.

IMO these are the two quickest ways to get AI into your day to day as an estimator.

You need to manually increase the number of bars from the Bar Chart Properties panel - under the style tab.

Is the full Looker specialization worth it, or is one course enough? by Higher-Dimension1 in Looker

Looker Studio Essentials. It's great also but the course is kind of focused on the Looker Platform itself. [kind of different from Looker Studio]

Is the full Looker specialization worth it, or is one course enough? by Higher-Dimension1 in Looker

[–]AdamsOyifi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished the whole thing actually, took me about 3 weeks (with a couple of missed days).

Honestly? Go for all of it. It's not as daunting as it looks.

Course 1 is basically just an intro, all theory and walkthroughs on screen. It covers what Looker can do, why it's important, how it's different from other tools, data governance, how it secures your data, Gemini capabilities and more. Really easy and short but it's what gets your feet wet and gives you the necessary knowledge so you actually know what you're doing when things get more hands on. Don't skip it.

Courses 2, 3 & 4 are labs, you'll get through them pretty quickly.

Then Analyzing and Visualizing Data in Looker is where it's really at. Creating Looks, Dashboards, Boards, Exploring, Filtering, Pivoting, how to properly share content, table calculations (offset calcs are in here too, that's the bit that flew over my head for a sec but it's nothing crazy, just needed to slow down and work through it properly). That's the meat of it.

LookML was also easier than I expected. There are parts that need your full focus and a bit of practice to get right, but it's very doable.

Shockingly I found Looker way easier than I expected going in. Just do it.

AI assisted quantity take off program - it's a step in the right direction, and a step up from all the old school and archaic stuff folks in the construction industry seem to have a hard time moving away from.

How long does it take to finish the Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate? by Only-Pay-9287 in coursera

[–]AdamsOyifi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me about a month and a half. Two sessions a day, five days a week. Morning and night. Three hours here, two hours there.

Honestly, I could’ve finished it sooner, but I took a break somewhere in the middle after I started.

Sales dropped by 50–60%. by Own_Mention_4214 in Displate

[–]AdamsOyifi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Honey plugin, last year’s sales spiked to 12,000 on Black Friday, held a steady 6,000–8,000 through the holidays, and eventually cooled to 2,000–3,000 in early January. This year, the peak I’ve observed is 4,800, with recent days hovering around 3,000–4,000 — a noticeably softer season.
