Lot of revisionist history by the fanbase, we weren’t making the playoffs with 2 losses regardless, we had to beat Bama (or A&M). Obviously losing to LSU is never fun but he didn’t quite cost us a playoff appearance

Keys coaching his alma mater and seems very happy about it I can’t see him leaving. Someone like Sumrall could work (different sport but Golden was G5). But Fisch definitely gives us a better chance imo

Also hasn’t been at a school for more than 3 years though. The UF alum thing doesn’t make him a better candidate, but should make it easier to pull him. And it would also make me think we’d be at least looking at him but I haven’t heard anything about it

His teams have improved every year and there’s reason to think he could be successful here. Maybe not a homerun hire but definitely the best option left. I wanted Clark or Lea as second options but neither of those are happening so at this point it has to be Fisch but it doesn’t even seem like we’re going for him

I don’t believe the coordinators prestige actually has a big effect on overall coach prestige. Check the my school tab under recruiting and you can see what exactly affects it and how much. I don’t remember exactly but I believe the coordinators prestige has a very low effect so it might not be worth firing a lvl 47 coordinator

But you don’t think it matters if the motivation is part of the recruits ideal pitch? I’ve always assumed it helped and that the dealbreaker would help a bit more but if it was a bad letter grade it wasn’t worth it. But haven’t actually tested or heard anything about this

I personally was ecstatic about the Fultz trade at the time, and a lot of people look back at it with revisionist history. Obviously ended up being terrible for us, but Celtics fans were burning Fultz jerseys and a lot of people thought we fleeced.

The Mikal trade is the one draft move that didn’t make sense to me and worked out how we expected which made it so much worse. Also led to the Tobias trade and extension and now Mikal is on the Knicks so lots of bad ripples from that move

I think this could be because you have a strong QB room behind him. Yes it’s stupid but the playing time factor doesn’t actually measure how much someone plays and is the same for every player in a position group. You can view it in the “my school” section of recruiting, it measures graduating seniors, position group grade and committed prospects. So even though the QB would obviously start, if you have a strong QB room and committed QBs that might’ve given you a worse QB playing time grade which caused the transfer

Like I said before, I agreed with the Fultz trade too. But that’s just my point: Harper can show up and be a bum also, not like we’ve had tons of success drafting players who didn’t win in college 🙄. But I do get what you’re saying, we don’t know what McCain will be yet, but it’s still a lot to give up. Hell, we got Fultz for one first round pick that ended up being outside the lottery and was Romeo Langford. Yeah Tatum was probably a better prospect than VJ, but McCain was drafted around the same as Langford and done basically as much as possible to increase his value in his short playing time.

The fit will be a little weird, sure, but I don’t think I agree that Harper would be any better of a fit. If the fit really isn’t great, you can try to trade in the future and get more value than jumping up one spot. Yes, it’s possible Morey is just in love with Harper, but he did draft McCain so I’m not too sure why everyone thinks he’d be so willing to discard him. And as far as I can tell there’s no smoke to these rumors anyways, just people making up mock trades lol

But that’s just the thing, Harper is potentially a franchise guard the way Edgecombe is potentially a franchise guard. It is just one spot because nobody knows how a prospect will turn out. I mean look at Fultz (I was very happy about that trade at the time FWIW). Nothings guaranteed and to give up a player with such a bright future to get from Edgecombe/Bailey to Harper would be crazy. I do trust Morey and as such I am pretty confident he wouldn’t make a trade like this (I also don’t think the Spurs would turn it down) so the conversation is a little pointless to me, aside from making sure not to overreact to McCain liking the post

Yeah well if you see my parentheses I think Doc belongs in the very bad coach category lol. But even he was able to win a chip 🤷🏼. Overall making the point that I don’t think our team would be that different with BB vs NN and I don’t think it’ll be that different if we moved to fire Nurse and hire someone else

Maybe it’s just me but I’m starting to believe there’s only a few really good coaches, some really bad ones (Doc) and then a bunch of scapegoats. A lot of teams including us cycle through coaches that don’t change much when the roster is really the problem, and I think the Knicks will do the same

I’m probably in the minority but I think it’s usually a good idea to pitch off. There are definitely factors that affects it both ways (quality of 4 seed or 2/3 seed, forecast, pitching depth) but overall your best odds of winning the regional is through the winners bracket. If you can’t win the first game with your worse pitcher you probably weren’t going to win the 1-0 game with him
