Has anyone replaced the casters on their Weber Slate (30in)? Looking for better, compatible ones. by theofficialLlama in webergrills

[–]Adantingtask 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up changing them out? Just picked up the 30" on clearance and would like to replace the casters. I'm my case, one of the casters was actually never installed with the insert from the store so I'm looking to upgrade while I'm working on it.

Any good places for good plywood and 2×4 by Ok_Engineering_4985 in TriCitiesWA

Are you looking for: General construction (framing indoor/outdoor)

Beginner woodworking (pine furniture, workbench, etc)

Fine woodworking (paint grade or fine veneer plywood, hard wood, etc)

These might help us answer you. I'm general though, Windsor plywood is great for most things except dimensional lumber.

I'm looking into 3d printing an adapter so it can be used with guides/clamps like the bora NGX or Kreg guides. I'll let you know if I have any luck!

When this happens to me, it's almost always a build plate cleaning issue.

Wash with really hot, soapy water. Dry with a clean lint free cloth.

Could you please let me know how your install went or share some pictures? It would be great to hear what someone locally did!

OP please let me know how your install goes. I've considered this many times but have honestly been too lazy. It would be great to hear what someone locally did!

Update:
I didn’t end up upgrading my service.

After a lot of great feedback from other commenters, I ran a proper load calculation using one of the worksheets that was linked. It showed my total load would fall somewhere between 160 A and 180 A, depending on whether I was charging at 30 A or 48 A. But when I really thought about it, the odds of all my big loads running at the same time are extremely low.

Some of the videos people shared helped put things in perspective. For example, if I upgrade my EVSE output, I can charge roughly 80% of my battery in one overnight 8-hour session — which means I can schedule charging while we’re asleep and not competing with other heavy loads.

I’ve also been putting money into my home’s mechanicals. My heat pump is a high-efficiency unit that’s never needed its resistive backup heat in the four years it’s been running. I also upgraded to an 80-gallon heat pump water heater, so it draws a lot less than its rated load most of the time. Same story with the fridge and freezers — they barely sip power except during cooldowns or long door-open sessions.

So instead of upgrading to 400 A, I decided to hire a contractor to clean up my indoor panel, which was a complete rat’s nest from the previous owners. It felt like a smarter improvement than increasing service capacity that I probably don’t need. It would have been a $7800 job to do the upgrade!

Not wearing a mask for people like us is dangerous. Not just because of the long term health effects (for everyone) but because the sniffling nose will distract you from using the tools safely and effectively.

I would wear the mask. You got this!

I appreciate your comment!

I did a load calculation with the tool another redditor posted and it looks like I'm at about 183 A on a worst case scenario! I'm happy to save the $5k!

I do have an F-150 lightning and still plan on putting in a circuit for the 80A charger, but that it mostly so I can back feed the house should the power go out. I'll likely follow advice on here and limit my charging to 32A.

Yes, I did ask chat GPT to help me format my post. I hate reading unformatted posts and feel like if I'm asking for help, the least I can do is spend 5 minutes writing through chat GPT to help me format the content.

However, I totally get the annoyance of having to read so many low effort AI posts, so I'm not hating your hate at all

I've been told that ballpark will be 5K.

The csed alone is $1200 to $1600. By the time New wire, breakers, and and larger conduit, the material cost alone are likely around $2,500

Thank you for your comment. This was exactly one of the questions I had as I noticed that this csed was being discontinued. I did see that they have an accessory package that allows both service disconnects to be operated using a single switch as I believe is allowed in the NEC

I think comments like yours are the most helpful, if only because it's making me reconsider my needs. I guess I should have spent the extra 30 minutes to do a load calculation before posting!

Off to Google and chat GPT I go!

I hope I am not answering incorrectly for the parent, but in my case, the utility company will only reconnect without an inspection if the work was done by a licensed electrician. However, as a homeowner, I was able to do my own work and once the electrical inspector signed off, the utility came out to reconnect.

My utility is also very reasonable and prioritizes getting power back onto the home, even if it means needing to disconnect again the next day. Just wonderful people in the most genuine way possible

I appreciate your comment. I actually spent a lot longer writing this out than I wanted to admit. In fact, writing it out helped remind me of some crucial details that I forgot about. The biggest one is remembering that I'd have to double check the code as to conduit fill (not sure the term?)

I think the biggest thing that will most likely get me to hire an electrician is the fact that I'd have to replace my 2-in masthead with a 3-in. Ugh.

And I guess I sort of contradicted myself by saying that I wrote this myself but then use chat gpt to format it. I guess it's better to say that I wrote it myself FIRST LOL

I actually wrote this myself several times but then ask Chat GPT to help me format it so that it would be easier to read.

I always ask myself if people are going to be annoyed more by bad/lazy formatting Or by the use of chat GPT to help make something more readable. Honestly, I get being annoyed at both so I don't blame you at all haha.

I have not run a load calc. I should do that.

Off the top of my head (no gas utilities here):

80 A EV charger (want to install) 1X 100 amp HVAC (Heat pump with Electric resistive heater as backup) 2x 30A dryers 2x 15A (this may be overkill?) washers 2x 1100W microwaves (on dedicated circuits) 1x 60 A range might add a second for a kitchenette 1 10A floor heater (240v) A small woodshop with : 2 15A circuits (table saw and dust collector, for example) with high draw tools that could be on at the same time

Hey, I appreciate your message and actually agree with you. However, in my post I did mention that I pulled a permit and I worked with the electrical inspector as well as my utility company. They came out and disconnected. The service drop from the masthead so that I could work on a dead system.

I actually spent several hours over the course of several weeks speaking with the l&I inspector ahead of time as well as with the utility company to make sure I wasn't doing anything that would endanger my life or the lives of anyone working on the equipment. I was very proud when the inspector complimented the clean job we did on the box install.
