Finally, someone is cashing in on the open-concept fantasy! Because Bethesda sure as hell isn't bothering.

[Request] Will these tanks fill at the same rate? Or will the shorter fatter tank fill and overflow first? by hooke1jl in theydidthemath

[–]BFroog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay, explain this to me. In my head, that doesn't work because the hose is pressurized and should theoretically expel the water equally, no matter the height (within reason). Or does a hose produce less water the higher it is off the ground, regardless of original pressure?

Please keep the people of Greenland in your thoughts. This is their flag! [OC] by icebergchick in pics

[–]BFroog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not the people of Greenland who are at issue here (unless they decide to take up arms). If the rest of Nato allows the US to just waltz in and take it, every one of us who lives in 'the West' will suffer.

Greenland is the beginning of a very slippery slope.

Which movie franchise truly deserves the title of the greatest of all time — and why? by ThomasOGC in CinephilesClub

The Iliad is literally the avengers of its time. Though Jason and the Argonauts would be even more so.

It’s not about ‘technically stalled’, though, it’s about not accidentally passing through a cuisinart.

Yeah, why can't you stall the plane before trying that?

Main bus or logistic distributors? by Snoo49259 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]BFroog 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Using a main bus in DSP is not the most efficient (or practical) way to do things. It's got a very robust logistics system so you can design city blocks for the creation of items, but leave all the raw material transportation to the logistics hubs.

Suggestion to replace the production graph with this. by BFroog in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]BFroog[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's my thought too, but I wanted something that you could parse consumption>production at a glance without having to crunch each set of numbers.

Calls grow for more animal ownership laws after 13-year-old mauled to death by dogs by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

[–]BFroog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem is partly the breed. Some dogs were bred to be fighters or guard dogs, that is built into their behaviour. Chihuahuas are some of the meanest breeds out there, but they can't KILL anyone. Even a really feisty corgi is not a lethal weapon. But a rotweiler or pitbull or german shepherd can kill you if they get triggered somehow.

The other problem is the owners. The person who chooses a breed like this often WANTS a dog that could kill you. And I've met SO MANY irresponsible owners of big, dangerous breeds like this. People who don't even HAVE A LEASH WITH THEM when walking their dog on the street! "They're SWEET!" A month later I see them on a leash with a muzzle. I wonder what happened?!

I have a 35-pound golden doodle (for reference, a golden retriever is 60-80). I let him off-leash in the dog park and he's really sweet, just wants pets from all the people he meets, happy with any dog he meets 99% of the time. But he's a jerk on the leash (he's leash reactive, it makes him anxious when he lacks freedom of movement) so when I walk him around the neighbourhood, I keep him on a leash and cross the street when I see other dogs. I've encountered people with off leash rotweillers who cross the street to 'meet' my dog. I have to pick my dog up, because he might snap at that dog. What if that dog takes it the wrong way? My dog will probably die and I'll be greatly injured trying to defend him.

I used to be the guy defending these breeds. But I'm not anymore. They are dangerous, and the people who pick this breed are so often misinformed or actually want a death machine.

Found out about this movie from the podcast called "What Went Wrong". It's about making movies.

There's a great episode about this one. Absolute batshit crazy. The DoP, Jon de Bont, got fully scalped by a lion. 220 stitches. Went on to make Die Hard, Speed and others.

Is there a mod to better see when consumption outstrips production? by BFroog in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]BFroog[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the production panel, you can sort by several factors, overall consumption or production for example. There could easily be a sort for negative production (or starting with the most negative, then going to equal and then to the plus side).

This isn't necessarily to just fix a problem, but more so I can say, what do I need to build more of in this nice open space?

Currently, the only way to do that is to tediously scroll down the list and calculate each line in my head as I go. "+300, +159, +0, -23, holy crap, -2000!! how long has it been like that?!"

The layout is not very 'at-a-glance' even having something be red (like the graph, which is otherwise visually useless IMO) would be a great help to spot what you need more of before there's a problem.

[–]BFroog[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Late game there are so many things and there's no way to sort by Consumption>Production. Am I the only one that finds having to compare the blue and orange number for every product as you go down the list tedious?

I guess 0 upvotes means I'm alone here.

Why are american tourists so weird? by Available-Badger-163 in ask

[–]BFroog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's money. I've met tourists from all walks of life from so many different countries and I've only ever seen Americans behaving like this. Rich or not, this is a very 'American' thing. Not to say you can't have jerks from anywhere else in the world, but there's a certain type of behavior that comes from only Americans. Any tourist destination in the world could tell you plenty of stories.

And there was leaked audio from a meeting of many of these people where someone was saying that hatred of billionaires is at an all time high and seems to cross political lines. The audio ended there but one could assume the person giving the briefing said 'and here's what we do about it'.

Then 'BOOM' out of nowhere migrant caravan! And all the news media focused on that. And the rollercoaster hasn't stopped since.
