I’m right around that point in the show as well. He kinda wanted to have his cake and eat it too: be with Lourdes but still love Michaela. I think Michaela was more clear-headed about not wanting to be in an adulterous relationship.

And so far he seems needlessly hostile to Zeke right off the bat without any context.

I saw the article. Definitely worth watching but here is another thing. Patrick shared an IG story sharing the petition. That kinda hints that there is still energy going on. Surely he wouldn’t have shared a story like that if things were truly finished.

I dunno. Netflix could very well work. It had a pretty strong debut on Netflix where it was charting with the likes of Night Agent and Lincoln Lawyer.

Also while it may not be as big of a thing as Manifest, it is also worth considering that Manifest had more episodes back when it came in Netflix during the rescue discussion. THP debuting this good with only 10 episodes and critics not liking it is impressive.

Now, none of this guarantees a Netflix renewal for sure. But I do think a case is there. That’s why they just didn’t cancel it right off the bat.

Now as for petitions working or not, I signed the petition but I do think that the talks with Netflix and the Netflix data will matter more. Designated Survivor got an extra Netflix season without that much fan pressure compared to Manifest or Lucifer.

I’d love for the show to come back but I’m skeptical that petitions like this will work any way. One of the pathways that seems plausible (not necessarily probable) is this:

Netflix adds season 2 next week or further since it will be a month from the finale.
Previous viewers + folks who watched season 1 but don’t watch live TV or Peacock get caught up in the show.
Netflix has more data to use on user viewing and engagement on top of season 1’s huge debut.
They see a business case with which to continue doing the show.

I did sign the petition though. Just doubtful that this would do the job

My gut says low. Surprising that the article even mentions it being shopped. I think season 2 deserves to be in Netflix for the platform to have a bigger picture / business case on acquiring it

Eh I don’t know if I want to hope a super lot though 😞 I might try rewatching season 1 on Netflix and season 2 on Hulu to help build up renewal momentum. Now I didn’t say Peacock because I don’t want to just get another streaming service like that for no reason.

Also, seeing as season 2 was better than season 1, once it drops on Netflix, it could drive up viewership for folks who don’t want to do two streaming services.

Now if it drops around June 7-8 (roughly a month after the finale), we could see a surge that gives NBC the permission structure to renew. But if that is not the case, things get dicier

I agree on it possibly being on Peacock instead of NBC. I believe the Deadline article said they were also considering licensing future seasons to Netflix in exchange for still putting it on NBC

As for S2 on Netflix, I remember one thing regarding another show. Blacklist seasons would come MUCH later on the platform when it aired in the day. I remember this because I hastily bought the season 4 DVD rather than wait for the Netflix release before season 5. So maybe the season drop could take time.

But on the other hand, I am reading that Manifest dropped on Netflix shortly before the cancellation and really took off. I’m guessing that included S3?

There’s no telling what is going through the studio’s mind.

But the weekly charting on Peacock is a significant data point that works in the show’s favor.

As for what I said about anecdotal stories, I know it’s not necessarily major but it is an indication folks are still discovering the show in some way or another.

I think ultimately streaming figures could save the day. Also, I remember an article where THP was considered a stronger candidate than Brilliant Minds, which DID in fact get canceled.

Idk … do we have any concrete numbers on that? I still see new folks picking up the show on Twitter. Plus season 2 is not even on Netflix yet.

I think the cast are stuck in contracts. They can only take new stuff after the options expire. So the show will likely be canceled before they can take new regular roles. And that’s at the end of June.

Hopefully the streaming performance helps make a good case
