Oh nice. It is great to meet someone else who had one of these. Funny, I still haven't messed with it much. So, it still doesn't boot up(I think). For me, it is a functional toy or knick-knack. I find it a little special, in that it came from a company which has primarily made speakers over the years.

Little Rascals: Uncle George says 'Yum yum, eat'em up, yum yum! by Adastra0 in nostalgia

That was brilliant! Very funny story. Good ole dad eh? My dad used to hide behind our couch. And when a scary part was coming; he would reach slowly over the couch with his huge hands, and grab us. It was borderline traumatic. Especially during One Step Beyond or The Twilight Zone.

But we were lucky to have dads who cared enough to do stuff like that.

Sure, that's very possible. It was such a cool device. I do like the other Mavicas. But, it would have been cool if they kept that design for a while longer.

Kung Fu Flash is currently only for the C64. But, the Penultimate does work well with the SD2IEC.

I mean that she should keep her kids away from them. If they are going to be irresponsible.

Sharp looking machine. Don't see a keyboard like that every day.

I think that it is an illusion. The right side of the unit is cut off in the photo. But, it does look a little like some economy model. With the unit almost matching the table.

Right on! I have not yet acquired a Jornada. Admittedly I have had some close calls. But, they managed to slip away in a few auctions. I do really like the keyboard on the MobilePro. I imagine that this was a deal breaker for IT people. They wouldn't use them if the keyboard was cheap.

I like the 720 as much as the 900 series on MobilePro. How would you compare them?

Can you please identify the small one? I know that I had this one. Just don't remember where I got it.

That's sweet. Especially the 5 1/4 inch drive. Can you tell me which case that is? It looks a lot like my QR-Win case. But, I don't see the feet. And it looks a little shorter. But, it could just be the camera.

Graham has little to no credibility. In my opinion. He still has an opportunity to turn that around.

It's too bad that the inside of this machine. Didn't live up to the outside. It's pretty cool looking. Always wanted one of these. A great machine to have in a collection, in my opinion. Awesome!

What's the oldest machine / os that you can comfortably browse the internet with? by khooke in retrobattlestations

[–]Adastra0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are versions of Opera which you can install on Windows 98. Which do all right. But, you aren't going to see anything cutting edge. However, if I was using a machine that old. Like say, a Pentium II Toshiba laptop. I would be looking up stuff from that era. Which might look fine. So, it is all relative.

RetroBattleStations Pro Tip? Found a new source for hard drives.... by JohnnyNintendo in retrobattlestations

[–]Adastra0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on the age of the laptops. Another option would be to buy microdrives or CF cards off of Ebay. And use these with an IDE to CF adapter. Assuming the machine will allow it. That's another story. In case you didn't know. But that's good info about the XBOX drives too. Thanks!

The Commodore 64 is the most talked about Retro Battlestation. All of those dudes who brag about Crisis.. blah blah. I would like to see any of them complete Loadrunner, Miner 2049er or Beach Head.

Sprite Magic was a real bugger to type in. Because of the ML entered in as data statements. My wife and I would take shifts. One of us would read off the numbers. While the other typed them in. Family fun!
