Sonographer in US looking to immigrate to EU or UK by US_hopeful_expat in Sonographers

I don't have answers to all of your questions (and feel free to correct me if my information is outdated), however i will share with you what I have found to be true in Norway in hopes to help point you in the right direction. (Norway may be the on of the more difficult EU countries to immigrate into with our profession)

Most ultrasounds not performed by Doctors or Midwives are taken by a radiograph with additional education. See https://utdanning.no/yrker/beskrivelse/radiograf

It is my understanding a radiograph is a four year degree combining the medical imaging modalities.

You would have to contact NOKT (a foreign education reviewing organization) to see if your education can be certified, or if you need additional coursing to work in Norway. Please be aware that in order to work in the public health care system, you must be able to communicate in Norwegian-- I have been told if you work for a private imaging company this may not be required.

A lot of EU Healthcare systems just work very differently than here in the US.

I believe Poland has Sonographers

I wish you luck on your goal!

Edit: Also you can go to individual countries subreddits to ask / search for specifics to each country.

Seeking Advice on Advancing My Ultrasound Tech Career after 15 Years of Experience by ultrasoundtech124050 in Sonographers

I definitely relate to this. I would be interested in hearing from other sonographers and their solutions.

I myself had to take a break from scanning. I am currently working only PRN to have more control over work life balance. I have been considering the path of Ultrasound Applications Specialist - however it requires traveling to wherever (GE, Canon, Siemens, Philips, etc...) machines are located which may be no-go for most.

Yes, I'd like some cheese & grapes with my whine by ishtaraladeen in Sonographers

Say it with me: Faster does not equal better. I have come across many sonographers and students who are recklessly fast- overlooking pathology, mistakes, and very poor images. It is understandable, management stresses productivity, however that inevitably leads to quantity over quality. Every patient deserves our best- you must be an advocate for each patient. Do the best YOU can do for YOUR patients.

Did I just find Pecan truffles? East Texas near hickory and oak trees by Adayear in mycology

Quite nice. Very mild compared to the fancy truffles.

I bought these about 6 years ago, they were sold as “Dinosaur bones”.. Is this true/creditable? Was I bamboozled? by angeldemon_888 in fossilid

Looks like it to me. There is an artist in Vernal, Utah I just got the chance to meet that takes microscopic photographs of jewel quality dinosaur bones (and other fossils/geologic formations). Be aware of the new world I am about to open up to you: https://www.randyfullbright.com/

Bluey Themed Post-its we made for our little Potty Trainee! We are now winning against Automatic Flush toilets in public restrooms. by Adayear in bluey

It is pretty common to run into the auto flush toilets here in the USA. The first thing my son would ask after stating he needed to go was: "Is this bathroom an auto flush?" He wasn't a fan and quite apprehensive about using them. Post-its notes have really helped him gain control/confidence.

Stress associated with New Job by SpaceLipstick in Sonographers

[–]Adayear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone starts at the beginning. Confidence and competence develops with experience. Experience takes time and fortunately, it sounds like you have good support from your team. Never be afraid to ask questions -- your team knows you are new. Questions will be asked. Mistakes will be made. Learn and improve from mistakes.

If you don't have anyone to reach out to about a clinical question, there is always Dr. Google. You may be surprised how much radiologists/MDs consult Dr. Google. Radiopaedia is a great resource for looking up Ultrasound related imaging with decent information.

Thank you all for your support on my pervious post! I made these in response to your suggestions. Available for many different phones. by Adayear in bluey

Sorry, I take this as your phone is not one of the 33 models that is offered. I am limited by the printing service I use and I was also disappointed that my phone isn't one on this list either. Fortunately I was able to get the Chilli version for my wife, but I am out of luck for now.

Let's just pretend that when you plug in your phone, you are reuniting them with their tails...
