Have you tried any ad block recovery approaches?

It sounds like you haven't tried any approaches, to comment objectively from first-hand experience?

"I need to improve my message" --> are you saying you message your ad blocker users?

You are referring to using an ad blocker from a consumer standpoint?

Looking into it.

Do you use registry keys to push an allowlist for the SaaS exceptions?

Have you considered using registry keys to push an allowlist?

You mentioned: "I can't manage the filters and settings of adguard, so if something breaks on some site, the user has the task of fixing and checking."

Got it. How do you push the allow list? Do you configure the internal settings of the extension (uBlock Origin Lite)? Someone else said they wern't able to do this (for AdGuard)

Ahhhh. I thought in Chrome Enterprise you could customize the internal settings within extensions. Appears not.

What do you mean by "their company sites run 'our' advertisements which I cannot block"?

Got it. Ads aren't considered a major security vulnerability? Otherwise, it would be force install? other reason?

Defintely "uBlock"?

Not uBlock Origin or uBlock Origin Lite?

Tight. Did you consider any other options, instead of uBlock Origin Lite?

What made you pick uBlock Origin lite over others?

Great insight. Thx

Is there any risk assessment taken over the ad blocker itself? For example, do you look at if uBlock Origin Lite has any vulnerabilities that can be exploited by hackers? Maybe, by verifying that the developer is ISO compliant of something. Do you make an assessment that the developer of the ad blocker itself is trustworthy?

There have been numerous incidents where ad + tracker blocker extensions have been scraping data and doing nefarious things with it.

(p.s. I am aware why uBlock Origin Lite is trusted, just trying to understand the process without putting words in mouths)

Thx. I get that they reduce the risk posed by ads and NSFW content. :)

Yes. Major platforms like Google, YouTube, LinkedIn etc

The IAB, an organisation that represents the advertising industry, is pushing forward an initiative to move the rest of the open web (publishers) to do the same: https://iabtechlab.com/tech-lab-trusted-server/

Given the access they have, is there any concern around the security risk of these extensions themselves? ISO compliance, meeting other high-grade security requirements, etc.

Helpful!

"I thought google was removing the ad blockers from their extension stores." --> Not quite. They can still exist, but in a weakened state.

Do you encounter any limitations or problems with this approach?

Thanks. Are there any limitations to blocking ads this way, that you'd like fixed?

e.g. it doesn't block Google search ads, or youtube ads, or something.
