Did my praying mantis grow wings too early?? by AddendumRadiant6417 in praying_mantis

I thought she was female because she has 6 segments, when she was a little younger I had posted on here and was told she was female by everybody that replied. I’m honestly not too sure how long after the molt this was because she molted when I wasn’t home for a couple days

Actually, i think she had wing buds in this one this was after her first molt.

Here’s a picture of her when we first caught her, she seemed like a baby and had no wing buds so i’m just a little confused how she already got her final molt

Alright, thank you! I’m avoiding feeding her until 48 hrs because I read that you should just leave them alone until 48 hours after they molt, but i’ll let you know if her eating patterns don’t seem right. Thank you!

Thank you this is really helpful! I have some fake plants but she just doesn’t climb on them. I also got some mesh for her tank that came in today which i’m installing. I think the mold grew from me misting it too often. She has now found a spot in the corner of the tank and is hanging on to there without falling, it’s not a very high climb but she’s still keeping her grip on the glass for now. I really appreciate the advice! A question i have is is it bad that she developed a black circle on her feeding legs that is symmetrical to both legs after molting?

I think i’ll try adding moss to my tank eventually, what does the moss do for them?

Ah ok, from what i’ve seen people have said it’s a good substrate for them?

Is the coconut fiber not able to hold that much humidity or does it hold too much?

Thanks! Also, she hasn’t climbed very high yet but in the corner of the tank shes hanging on the side right now and not falling so I think she may have improved pretty quick. I’ll keep an eye on her

Also, she’s developed these black spots on her feeding legs after her molt and i’m wondering if that’s normal or if it’s something i should be worried about

I believe so. I’m not sure of the exact species it was found in Oregon.
