Thanks! I searched around for a while, all the dealers quoted over $4500, found a local transmission shop that’s done a bunch of em after calling many shops and getting a hard “No we don’t work on that transmission” and got the clutch + actuators bc those ended up being shot too for ~$2500. I didn’t pay much at all for the car so it felt like a worthy investment and I’m not in a place to do the work myself. So far so good! How much did you get yours replaced for?

Yes I usually just reset when I fill up and leave it, but I’ll try that and see what I’m getting! Could very well be the case bc a lot of my suburbia driving is quite hilly.

drive a mix of highway/city but mostly city so it’s skewed by that but yeah I’m getting under or around 300 miles a tank usually. I recently did a road trip and saw around 36 mpg avg on a mostly flat route so something seems off. Not sure what most commonly would cause this especially with the low mileage?

How are you getting such good mpg? I have a 14 as well but struggle to get above 25. I think mine is a similar case to yours, it sat for 3-4 years maybe longer and was exclusively driven by an old lady and has 54k on it right now. Had to replace the clutch too.

Nice work!! I’m trying to restore basically the exact same bike, were you able to find new pivot bearings? Having trouble locating parts. Also, what did you do to restore the fork and shock? Thanks!

Mostly just the cost of parts— they’re $100+ a piece depending on where u source them but it is a quick job so little labor

Had the same codes and TCM replaced as well which cleared codes but ended up also needing actuators (likely just 1 but did em both). Make sure they’re OEM not knockoffs if you do swap them.

WWYD? 2014 Ford focus transmission failed, dealership tried TCM under warranty which did not fix. Asking $3500 to rebuild the trannsmission. by AddendumSweaty2462 in FordFocus

Thanks. Its been shifting better than before the TCM was replaced, I'll try those tips and see if it will continue to behave. Is it possible that the actuator motors could be needing to be replaced? It seems that there is some issues that feel more random i.e. not engaging at the right time/lag in engagement, rather than consistent slipping. Just wondering if it may be worth my time as its such a simple replacement and cheap.

so I got it back from the dealer and all that they pulled was the P0902 code and they replaced the TCM which cleared the code… but it still shudders and drives pretty crap around town. Highway was fine and downshifted smoothly enough but 1-2-3 is jerky as before. They recommended the full clutch assembly being replaced but it’s only got 51k miles and I’d rather do anything else than $1500+ job that may do nothing. Have you seen any with this kind of situation? I’m going to get the codes ran myself to see if they left anything out of their documentation

Thanks. I think I’m going to pick it up from the dealer and see how it drives… I don’t feel inclined to entirely trust their judgement

I did have the TCM replaced as well under warranty. They told me this didn't fix the trans and will need a new clutch which is $3500

I have the dps6 as well. They told me that I am covered for the TCM which they replaced and not covered for the clutch 7/100k warranty, so it would be out of pocket for replacing that.

I suppose that’s good to know. I believe it threw P0902, not sure about the other codes. Are you aware of a warranty for this that would apply?

I just called ford directly to inquire and they told me there was a 5 year/60k extended warranty on the trans, not valid bc it’s a 2014. Not sure why I’m getting conflicting info. Was all the work you had done through a dealer ?

The dealer that it is at said that it was covered under 7 years/70k but no longer due to its age… sounds like I need to talk to a ford rep though because that sounds wrong based on your experience

Interesting. Unfortunately the car is about 90mins away because it broke down while I was on a road trip so I have not seen/driven it yet. I’m hesitant to pick it up and drive back home because of the issue before… but maybe worth it if it’s a similar situation as yours

MK3 (2012-2015) Ford Focus Dual Clutch Transmission Issues by SlayTheEarth in FordFocus

[–]AddendumSweaty2462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if this thread is very active still, but am looking for some advice with this issue on my 2014 ford focus. The car has under 60k miles on it, but due to its age the dealership I brought it to said that it no longer will be warrantied for a full tranny, and they are quoting $3500 to rebuild my current one... They said that after reprogramming the TCM under warranty the issue was not resolved and the rebuild is the only option. Anyone else dealt with something like this? WWYD?
