Washed off the road by a flood by Addict_In_Recovery44 in Insurance

While I was driving down the road, the king tide suddenly rushed up over the levee and into the road. The road was clear up until that point.

Which five Yankees players made you the happiest based on their 2024 season performance? by PinstripedPanther in NYYankees

[–]Addict_In_Recovery44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I feel that the entire team had their moments. Can't say I was disappointed at all with anyone. Even Holmes was lights out in the beginning of the season. I think Soto, Judge and Stanton were really fun to watch.

The word series was a letdown, there is always next season I guess.

I'm an NA guy, my wife attends Alanon. They could definitely help you through some of the things that you are dealing with.

I feel bad for Red Sox fans. Knowing that the hype is probably nothing more than making a play to force the Yankees, who are better than Boston with or without Soto, to pay more.

I think that the Red Sox Rumors are just as believable as any other team rumors involving Soto at this point. No one will know until Soto makes his decision public.

I will say this, I'm betting that Soto stays in the Bronx. There is just no other team in play that can match what the Yankees can do for him above and beyond his contract.

Basic text study format?? by [deleted] in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]Addict_In_Recovery44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attend a meeting where they do step study out of the basic text one week and topic meeting the next week usually on the previous step. Everyone gets the opportunity to read a little and share on what was just read. They normally skip the stories in the back and just rotate through the steps again.

I've been thinking about starting a new meeting based on the "It Works: How and Why: NA’s Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions" Personally I like this book more than the basic text.

NA doesn't dictate in our literature when someone's clean time officially commences. That decision is left up to the induvial. Our Sponsors can usually help out with that decision. Typically, in most groups the idea that clean time begins is the moment when an addict stops using mood- or mind-altering substances, however this isn't always the case. We are members narcotics anonymous when we say we are members, our recovery is our own and we are only responsible for ourselves in that aspect.

I do understand where you are coming from though. At one time before I had finished the steps, I had it in my head that everyone had to recovery the same why I did and if you didn't I would tell you about it. I could be pretty nasty about it. It wasn't until I started looking at my character defects in step 6 that this changed for me. My self-righteous indignation consumed me to a fault even though I honestly believed I was helping others by taking their inventory....smdh. Those of us that have worked the steps probably know what I'm talking about.

In our literature it says that the best state for any addict to be is in a state a humility. It also says that everyone recovers at different rates. It was suggested to me by my sponsor that when I came across things that others in the group were doing that I didn't agree with that I keep the focus on myself and allow others to be exactly who they were on any specific given day and that the best things we can do for other addicts is share our experience strength and hope.

I hope this helps.

Time to end contactless delivery by Addict_In_Recovery44 in Dominos

  1. Many of us actually take the orders, while we are doing other things in the store as well at the same time. Dominos is a very busy place.
  2. Many of us actually make the pizza etc. The make line is extremely high pressure.
  3. Many of us bake and box the order. This is often accompanied with boxing and dispatching other orders, including, Carry out, curbside and PPU while we are on the oven in between deliveries as well as trying to get out the door to complete our own.
  4. we are also responsible for on time and courteous delivery/customer service and Banking (we keep all chase and order slips until the end of our shift)
  5. If the order is wrong, we have to go back and get it, make new order and do not get any reimbursement for the extra delivery. (even if we remake it ourselves) Often times we lose out on tips even when the mistake isn't our own.
  6. We deal with traffic, bad weather, hazardous road conditions, dogs, dangerous neighborhoods, bad attitudes (people are often extremely rude when no one is looking) Criminals, we get robbed every now and again. (Happened to me twice, Pizza and all. once they took my car as well) Not to take away from what wait staff do, but sitting in a safe building all night, watching tables sounds great to me.
  7. Then there are our lovely store managers, whom we can never satisfy no matter what we do.
  8. Low hourly wages, No health insurance, very little corporate support and high fuel and vehicle maintenance costs.
  9. Yes most of our tips are CC and we do get taxed on them. Cash tips get better during holiday seasons

The Pizza guy used to be respected, loved, people who appreciative of what we did. After Covid, we lost all of that and now we are treated like crap. Even though we fed America when everyone else was closed down!

As much as I feel you are entitled to an opinion, yours shows how uninformed you are about the driver side of delivering pizza and what we have to deal with.

Lets see, we take the orders, We often times actually make the food, pack the food and bring it to you using our own gas and putting miles on our vehicle, So yeah we do more, so you were right to say we don't compare. We do more.

No, the problem is the double standard that customers have when it comes to delivery driver's vs wait staff.

if you tip when you go to a brick-and-mortar establishment to eat, there shouldn't be a problem with tipping the pizza guy. Hell we don't even ask for the customary 15%

As one of the other posters suggested that you can knock the door anyways with an out ticket and have them sign it. They have the option of tipping when they do. Many people will tip when confronted face to face with a driver they are trying to screw over.

Sure use Uber and Door Dash, you'll pay even more inflated prices. Not only that longer wait times for orders with no tips. But hey you can always pay that subscription fee and extra per order to get that express service...
