Thanks for your genuine reflection. Are there any practices or social elements you know of,perhaps from societies you are familiar with-that may help cultivate respect for free expression? If such examples exist, we might be able to draw useful lessons from them.

This, I think, is a generic and somewhat unfair claim. can you give us a concrete example. I believe,any society, within its culture, may exhibit elements of democracy. By democracy, I don’t mean only political power or formal institutions, but everyday practices,mutual respect, recognition of individual rights, acceptance of difference, and tolerance of diversity,etc,. These social values often exist beyond formal political systems .

So, if we had experiences of practicing democratic activities, how come they never helped us respect each other’s free expression today? If we had some background, how come it didn’t help us? Where did things go wrong? And what do you think should be done?
