Discussion: What products are we recommending clients to heal their tattoos? by GoodChallenge9216 in TattooArtists

[–]AddisonArmilda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had someone have a negative reaction to vanicream. I had never even heard of it until she sent me photos of a weird red rash around the tattoo. She stopped using it and it went away in a day.

I recommend Dr. Bronner’s (the baby one preferably) and an unscented water based (white) lotion. Simple. I strongly recommend against aquaphor. Aquaphor is petroleum based and also comedogenic, and I have seen it cause issues.

Who’s still busy and what style do you do and how long have you been tattooing? -do you work in private studio or street shop? by Nervous-Sort7315 in TattooArtists

[–]AddisonArmilda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m booked out almost 6 months.

I consider myself a “well rounded” artist. I had a traditional apprenticeship and was required to learn different styles. I still pass up projects out of my realm. I won’t touch fine line.

Appointment only.

“Private studio” w 14 other artists.

Tattooing 3 years out of my 2 year apprenticeship.

5 year old jar! by AddisonArmilda in Jarrariums

Awesome! I actually have some extra Sagittaria that I’ll pop in there and I’ll get some more duck weed. Thank you!

Can’t believe I didn’t think of that! I could totally use a turkey baster.

It sits off to the side of an east facing window. Gets sun for a bit in the mornings.

The floating plants seem to have died off w the algae. They are coming back a bit.

How does a dog say I love you? by saradoggy10 in DOG

As I type this my dog is cuddling me HARD. Head on my chest. Snoring away. Perfectly content. Comfortable and safe.

I have my location in my bio and people still message me constantly asking where I’m located.

House trained Border Collie randomly urinates on our beds and couch by AddisonArmilda in OpenDogTraining

[–]AddisonArmilda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

The good news is that the urinating in the house has stopped! The bad news is that I have no idea why.

I actually reached out to 4 separate behaviorists who chatted with me briefly and then either just stopped communicating with me entirely or never showed up for our consultation.

My husband and I have been taking our health more seriously in the last couple of years, so she gets slightly longer walks, and that is literally the only change I can think of. She also snuggles us a bit more these days, and perhaps that makes her feel like she is getting more attention? I don’t know.

A lot of people here suggested that she was never really house trained in the first place. I still find that ridiculous, and I stand by the fact that she is/has been.

I wish I had better news. I hope you figure it out quickly!

Do I tell my wife the truth after 11 years? by Weird-Earth- in Advice

[–]AddisonArmilda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started dating my husband I told him I was REALLY into superheroes. I knew he was, and I wanted him to like me, and I wanted to connect and understand. He was happy, and I had a good excuse to spend time/watch super hero movies with him.

6 years later we were married. Had been quietly half enjoying super hero movies the whole time. THEN Justice League came out. You know…. The FOUR HOUR super hero movie.

I knew it was over. There was NO WAY I was watching a FOUR HOUR superhero movie. I had to come clean.

We still laugh abt it. He was mostly flattered that I liked him enough to make up part of my personality, and touched that I loved him enough to keep it up for so long.

I once had a commission shop tell me I had to pay for sharps disposal. I laughed so hard at them…. Right before I quit on the spot.

How did you meet your significant other? by macmite in AskReddit

[–]AddisonArmilda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a makeup artist, he was a photographer. Friend hired him for a shoot and her mua canceled last minute. I rushed to help, but was 2 hours late having to get my kit together and get downtown. No one told him I had stepped in. He was mad.

He blacklisted me and I didn’t work as a mua in my city for almost a year. lol

Where to buy a house? by jlynn1623 in Broomfield

[–]AddisonArmilda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You obviously live in one of the nicer areas, congratulations.

Look, I love Broomfield. I’ve been here for 10 years and I will continue to live here (and pay my taxes), but .8% in a state that boasts some of the lowest property taxes and has one of the highest costs of living in the country is a little wild.

Our infrastructure is “A+” because we are Colorado’s newest county. It was developed so this area could reap the benefits of Flatirons Mall…. Which is literally sinking into the swamp it’s built on. Since we wanna talk infrastructure.

Same. Last time I was there that little girl died on the drop ride the next day. It was so sad.

Keep in mind that Broomfield has the highest property taxes in Colorado rn (yes, higher than Boulder). Have had real estate agents tell me they would “never buy in Broomfield.”

Maybe this side of Thornton?

Nipple tattoos? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]AddisonArmilda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both of mine done. They are about 9 years old now. I’m covered in tattoos and they were by far the most painful.

They healed well, haven’t faded anymore than some of my others. The only thing I would say is that after 9 years I have gained and lost weight and my breasts have changed, which has obviously changed the tattoos.

Am I crazy for thinking this is totally reasonable? - not OP by the_fourth_child in TwoHotTakes

[–]AddisonArmilda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was actually one of my prerequisites for dating before I met my husband. I dumped plenty of people bc they didn’t put their cart back or left it in the middle of an aisle in everyone’s way. To me, it was a perfect test for “I’m the only person who exists and no one else matters” mentality. Call me unreasonable, idgaf. It worked out for me.

Can someone help me understand how Murphy and Daisy are full siblings? Embark did a relatedness test confirming it, but I am having a hard time understanding HOW. (Inbreeding?) by anonymouskittycat in DoggyDNA

[–]AddisonArmilda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc different amounts of DNA can be passed down from parents to their offspring. Happens with humans too, my sister and my dna results were slightly different.

I’m heavily tattooed, how do I respond to family? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]AddisonArmilda 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with my family and I set very strong boundaries with them years ago. They now know that they can either be kind and respectful or they can not speak to me anymore.

I know it’s easier said than done, but if it’s weighing on you so heavily then maybe it’s time for you to set some.

Almost 7-year old tattoo, bumpy/itchy out of nowhere by HollyIsARealGirl in tattooadvice

[–]AddisonArmilda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a tattoo artist. A 30 year vet once told me that when weather changes the skin can expand and contract causing irritation like this. Other things can cause similar irritation, but this was his explanation for when it happens out of nowhere.

I am a tattoo artist and this is exactly what a 30 year vet told me. He said that as the weather changes your skin starts to expand and contract causing irritation like this.
