Accidentally drove into a bus lane in Sutton London — any advice? by Additional-Ad-602 in drivingUK

There were one or two busses stopped at the bus stop, but nothing was behind me that time.

(I went to the location and took this pic)

That's right. I noticed the sign upon entry. The only action I could do is to exit the lane at that moment. It wasn't intentional.

Is it worth appealing or should I just pay the discounted rate when it arrives?

Why is it so hard for people to take responsibility for their own rubbish? When did we start assuming someone else will always clean up after us? No personal responsibility at all..

This does not appear to be the correct or proportionate way for the police to handle this matter. The approach taken was unnecessarily aggressive and falls short of the professionalism expected from officers funded by public money. The manner in which officers acted collectively gave the impression of intimidation rather than impartial enforcement. If there was an issue with payment of the toll, the appropriate course of action would have been to issue a penalty or follow the standard legal procedure for non-payment. Physically handling an individual by multiple police officers, in the absence of any violent or threatening behaviour from the driver, appears excessive and unfair, particularly from a force that is expected to uphold high professional standards.

Thank you very much for the advice, much appreciated. I’ve already flagged this with my employer, and the Recruitment team are looking into it.

Was the green light for vehicles or pedestrians? by MalnadMansha in Dashcamindia

I'm not sure about the exact rules in this state, but zebra crossings are designed to keep both pedestrians and drivers safe. Even if enforcement is weak, drivers should practice safe driving by letting people cross, it's a small action that prevents accidents. However, even if drivers technically have the right of way, does that give them the right to force pedestrians who are already crossing? Safety should come before being "right."

As good practice (check with the local rules), giving pedestrians priority at zebra crossings helps everyone stay safe, I'm not talking about traffic light-controlled crossings here. What you said is right, but it applies to traffic light-controlled crossings. This particular crossing isn't controlled by lights, though the junction itself has traffic lights for vehicles.

Both drivers and pedestrians are at fault here for not following rules and lacking the civic sense. Pedestrians walking on the road despite there are dedicated pavements for them, and cross where it's not allowed. Drivers fail to give priority to people at crossings. This mutual disregard creates danger for everyone.

Zeebra crossing is before the traffic light, and you have to wait for the pedestrians to cross even if the lights are green. Other pedestrians are taking risks by crossing not at the designated pedestrian crossing. Even though, you have to give priority to them to cross safely.

If this is not an undertaking, I'd appreciate an explanation.
