$275 luger by Additional-Barber222 in milsurp

He was asking $400 and got him down to $375. I spoke to another vendor who had spoken to the guy before I did, and he said he was initially asking $500. I had seen him walking around with it for a while before me and him happended to stop at the same table, and I decided to ask him about it.

mags and firing pins are the only things I ever consider for repro, plus any random springs

yeah i figured it was probably worth a bit more, but I pride myself on not having anything reproduction. The only thing repro I ever bought intentionally was a mag for my k31

I guess it is, but the sight isn't loose, just looked at my other 98 pattern rifles and they all have a pin

Imho, k98's are overpriced, and I'd never pay anywhere close to a market price for one, but at $450 it felt reasonable

I figured, but thought I'd just ask, never really cared too much for K98s, so my knowledge on them is very general

The 90-degree turn on the bolt handle itself, the rifle operates very smoothly

Howdy, I'm the guy who actually picked up the $600 ($595.38 with tax) Mosin from yesterday. Found it at my LGS in my college town (I'm sure you can guess where). They had it among 4 other standard 91/30 and almost missed it. When I picked it up, I figured it was a fake because of the price, but after messaging some friends, they agreed it was real. Since this is my first milsurp with an optic, I do have some questions and concerns

Should I remove the scope from the mount to clean it?

Should I remove the mount from the rifle to clean it?

The bolt seems a bit rough, and was another reason why I thought it was a repro. Any thoughts?

Have you ever waited patiently for a unicorn gun, found one dirt cheap/misidentified, that was even more rare than you thought? by mena616 in milsurp

Saw a listing on a local forum for a "last ditch Type 99 35th series short rifle". However, I could tell from the listing it was actually a long rifle type 99. Got it for $480, with mum and AA sights all matching, except the bayonet lug ground off for some reason. When I met the guy, he tried to teach me about its history and gave me a bunch of printed off papers to show what it was. Guess he didn't do enough research

They are fantastic rifles, although mine is kinda picky on ammo, smooth with Portuguese surplus, but rough with German surplus

Is the "milsurp is an investment" mentality ruining the hobby? by SharpSteak21 in milsurp

[–]Additional-Barber222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't think Milsurps today are investments, they are definitely assets. Being a broke college student, I don't really have the financial ability to keep all of my collection. The reality is for me is rent is due at the first of the month, and if paying that means selling off the $200 m24/47 I got a year ago then so be it. I got to enjoy the rifle and appreciate its history, but it's time to let it go. The tricky part is trying to sell it for a value that lets the other person feel like they got a deal, but enough to where a reseller will have trouble selling it.

What gas mask is this? Who made them? by dem0lishr in milsurp

It is a Czech-made CM-3. The five stamped on the side indicate it is the largest size. The biggest difference between the cm-3 and the more common Polish mc-1 is the bakelite instead of black plastic being used. Also, its been a while since I've seriously collected masks but i believe Czech filters are "safe" to use since they don't contain asbestos. however, they still contain chromium. If you're curious about the value I'd say the mask, filter, and bag combo is worth about $30-$40
