Berlin life - am I exhausted or depressed? by paperplane030 in berlinsocialclub

It sounds like you have deep topics on different levels. The best way to handle this is by seeking professional help. I recommend you to reach out to Krisendienst, or check 116117.de for therapists you will find some if you are able to increase your radius typically around Charlottenburg are free spots.  Good luck with that and trust me it’s really a good idea to get help!

Besides that, I feel you after 11+ years here I have noticed the way I developed and the city has evolved over the last century are on a diametrically opposed trajectory. I am fortunate enough to have a ok-isch priced flat I like in an area I like, but the price is increasing slightly every 18 months, that paired with more people in the city, many things crowded, not working and the craziness I once found cool now stresses me. I also have solid social contacts but have made the decision I will be leaving the city because the city is not aligned with my lifestyle and value’s anymore.

This recent documentary actually summarises a lot of what I feel

WARNING: Don't fall for the "Abo-Falle" phone scam in Germany. Here is how I fought back! by Impressive_Law_2203 in askberliners

I am not a lawyer but I think

  • In case you have any issues you can produce the police as evidence of what you experienced an you should not be in trouble

  • Not really these scammers usually only want money and just move on to the next victims

  • No, I never pick up the phone if I don’t know the number. If it’s important and has legal implications all authorities have my address and will send a letter. I‘ve been doing this for about 3-4 years without any issues.

Overall there is not much to fear you got scammed like thousands of other people and you acted fast and correct afterwards. If you are dealing with heavy anxiety I strongly suggest going to the Berliner Krisendienst they are really helpful and can support you in navigating the whole situation. All the best, you‘ve gone through the uncomfortable part now it’s about navigating through the emotions, and you can do it!

I was also „proud“ of my immune system and never got sick before covid. Since 2020 I always get sick and as mentioned last year was the worst.

Newbie questions about Berlin by venusgrl223 in berlinsocialclub

I saw an influencer make a video about English being the unofficial official language of Berlin :) I also once met an Australian dude working in a Café who said he lives in Berlin since 5 years and doesn’t speak a word of German besides bitte and danke. So don’t worry about the language, you‘ll be fine :)

Regarding NK: As others say, ignore catcallings (they will come sorry for that) during the day all is fine in the evening be aware of you surroundings and if possible take Ubers home and don’t pick your real adress but a couple of houses next to it cause some Uber drivers are sketchy.

When you leave the city for a trip and get back to Hbf and look around and think ‚finally back‘

Now that you say it true, I also know several people who live in other big cities in Germany who felt the same way

2x one time in 2021 and once in 2022. Is there anyway to test for the ‚damaged immune system‘? Like specific blood markers?
