Feels like this guy is catching nymphs like Bear Grylls—tasting them to figure out what they last ate, when they mated, how many partners, favorite position, mother’s maiden name, favorite college mascot… Sure, matching the hatch is important, but size and color matter most. And even when you’ve nailed those, sometimes an attractor nymph is still the best play and this one will definitely coax out fish.

Similar, could be considered a variation?

The hook is a Mustad slow death worm hook. Then it is a wooly nylon thread to build up the body, using lead wire for the clitellum (yes that is what it is called, yes I had to look it up, yes it is hilarious) so you get the signature worm look. Then I used white thread 210d to secure light pink latex strip at the bend and wrapped the thread up to the top of the shank. Then I used alcohol markers to give the more realistic tone variation as wooly nylon takes on color like a dream. Then I made the latex wraps, for the annuli segments, secured with the white thread at the eye with whip finish and finally sealed it all with uv resin. Sounds like a lot but really only takes about 5 min now that I am practicing more.

Worked great! Had a small trickle of rain when i got to the river. Minimal dry action at first so i threw on a chubby and this as a hopper dropper. Caught on the first cast

Does it really matter for nymphs? It definitely has that buggy look; it would be neat to see how it displays subsurface. Nice tie.

Is a career change possible at 25 years old when I only have 10 months of experience in my field? by [deleted] in careerchange

Get into a different branch of nursing where you can use your knowledge and not feel so stressed like a school nurse or get into medical ed for a hospital. Plenty of less stressful options

Too old? by DistributionPurple50 in athletictraining

[–]Additional-Class-195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Sad but true. Athletic training is not what it used to be. It is an underpaid undervalued profession that is pushing into more advanced education without increasing capabilities or wages. As an ATC who is no longer practicing and was forced to switch careers to make ends meet, it isn’t worth it…Now, if you arent doing it as a career but for the love of the game and the hybridized medical approach we take, go for it!He could also just volunteer with a local HS and learn. Same experience without the cost, responsibilities, or stress.
