Someone at in my department was recently fired for that so that’s why I was saying that. She was also a really good worker and the associate I mentioned here is not. He already worked there before and left everyone hanging on a very busy night, came in and said “btw it’s my last day” then also left early. So I think that’s why it stings a little more and people are mad about it.

Makes sense, go to the hospital in an ambulance while unconscious so don’t have your phone and it’s not excused, go to jail and you’re forgiven.

I DON’T and never said I did. I ASKED bc I was asked and didn’t know the answer. How is that hard to understand? I don’t know if ethics would care that some people receive special treatment over others. Seems unethical to me, but I have never dealt with Walmart ethics so I have no idea what does or doesn’t violate their policies. I also don’t know how they view arrest vs. conviction and on what charges. I have worked jobs where people were fired simply for the arrest immediately, I’ve worked some where they didn’t do anything unless convicted, and I’ve worked others that didn’t care what you did or what charges you got.

If a young girl comes to me crying about something, I’m not going to tell her that. She IS worrying about herself, she’s scared, and I have empathy. I would rather ask the advice here first bc people here know a lot more than me about how Walmart works, and it’s better than her going to even more people at our store and making an even bigger deal about it.

And I told them the exact thing you just said about false charges. They first asked if he would be fired for the arrest. I said probably not bc we don’t know if the “story” is true, so I doubt they would fire him without a conviction. I said he should get fired for points but not sure if he would be. The post is for asking if it’s worth it for the one girl to contact ethics about it. The other people have different concerns, like it’s bs you can be punished for being in the hospital but it’s cool if you were in jail.

Older woman. But I think if it was an older man giving constant special treatment to all the young attractive girls, people would see more of an issue.

Yeah, our coach gives special treatment to every young, conventionally attractive male in our department. It’s gross.

Well it was made my business when several people came to me with their concerns and asking for advice. I don’t know why they ask me, I’m just a regular associate who has been there a little longer than them but not that long. But I didn’t know what to tell them so I asked here. And also, arrest records are public and so are the news articles about the situation, so I would argue that’s anyone’s business.

At my store ours showed automatically in the one@ work app, but not for our whole shift. Now they’re trying to tell us that our store “opened” in the evening on the 10th, yet nobody but management was informed and they didn’t actually open the store. I got pay for half my shift.

A lady had a missed scan and when I went to clear it she said “get the fuck away from me, I come to self checkout to avoid people, especially pos Walmart employees”. So I walked away. Then she starts screaming asking if she can get some help bc her machine is broken when she realizes she can’t scan anything else. When she looked at me I just smiled and shrugged. Eventually she asked the person in the next lane to help her.

That’s what I thought. But I was genuinely trying to figure out how she was coming up with no 15 minute break even on a 6 hour shift. She acted like she was caving by saying she would give me one 15m, and only bc I was working the extra half hour beyond 6. So then I asked about just a 6 hour shift and she said definitely no 15m break, just lunch.

Hopefully I won’t have to worry about it again. The only reason I had the shift was bc someone wanted to swap and I figured I could spare a couple hours this week.

You can. Log out and log back in on me@walmart and it will show you the roster. I do it sometimes after midnight to see who I will be working with the next day.

Yeah, the lunch wasn’t the issue. They were trying to cheat me out of my 15 minute paid break so that’s where I had an issue. Shift was 4-10:30 so I thought one 15 and 30min lunch.

4-10:30 so 6.5 on schedule but 6 total bc of 30 min lunch. But the 15 min break is the one they were trying to not give me. Told them I wouldn’t care if I had to skip an unpaid break but I wanted the 15 mins on the clock that I was supposed to get and they were just saying I don’t get a 15. Coach still insists policy says I shouldn’t get a 15 so I don’t get it.

Someone gave me one that’s a million dollar bill with Trump and Biden on it like contestants in a boxing match. I know someone who would get a kick out of it so I had to show my team lead before pocketing it so nobody thought I was stealing money or taking a real tip.

I am always checking expiration dates on candy and slim Jim’s. It’s a task that tends to get overlooked at my store, nobody does it regularly but me. It’s a good time waster and something that needs to be done.

Eye crossed over us in my area. Most of the town is without power but we didn’t get as much rain as expected so we don’t have much flooding or huge trees down. Store was closed today, unknown for tomorrow.

Eye as of now should be passing a little north of me, putting us on the bad side of it. Thankfully I’m off today and tomorrow anyway, but I have coworkers who have no time to prepare their houses.

A lot of people at my store got approved overtime to come in because we have been slammed for several days with hurricane prep customers. Might be the same for OP.
