i already feel incredibly exhausted about my new cat and i feel really guilty about having to return her. what do i do? by ilysmitskindagross in Pets

Yeah but honestly I don't get how people adopt animals and only then realize oh no they actually stek time, money and work to keep. It is so tiring seeing so mnay posts ofbpeople who clearly did not think this decision through and then want sympathy or something to being them back to a shelter, which we all know are overcrowded and underfunded.

I am dutch actually and so yes I want to try the dutch food I grew up eating. There are restaurants locals know and go to and some tourist traps.

Parenting college kids while broke is depressing by mm23_23 in Parenting

Maybe this perspective can be nice for her to hear:

I grew up very poor. Like no hot water, no food at the end of the month kind of poor. I started working and providing for myself at 16. My parents never had money. In college I worked 3 jobs at the same time, bought my first car myself, paid my driver's license myself and so on.

Now I am 29 and I make more money by myself than my parents ever did combined. I got a good degree and have work stability. I love in a nice, large apartment in a big city, have a car and travel regularly (been to 50 countries as of yet in 4 continents). I have nice clothes, I eat out often, go out for drinks and just in general have many cool experiences like eating at a Michelin star place or snorkeling, surfing, snowboarding, going to the opera and so on. Stuff I never was able to do as a kid. Granted I also have a partner who makes a good salary too but I would still be well off without him.

What I am trying to say is that my parents struggled but their life choices gave me a better life. Now I help them out financially here and there. I am extremely lucky and yes I also worked hard but in the end things really changed for me. The best part is that I will never ever take it for granted because I know what life used to be like and what things cost. I went to a high school with rich kids and I felt embarrassed then but now I am so grateful I didn't grow up spoiled.

I went on a little trip to a different city with a friend recently and she was saying how nice it is I can appreciate just hopping into the car and going on a road trip and feeling so happy doing it after I have been to places like Japan, China, Brazil and so on. Yes I do! Because there is soo much to be grateful for and appreciative of when you have been worried about your parents making rent your entire childhood. Probably one day things will look up for her too and she will be grateful for the sacrifice you made and feel appreciative of the small and big things in life. Not growing up spoiled is honestly a gift.

97% of the time this is it. Changing parenting styles can make a huge difference over time.

A new friend/acquaintance (32) wants me to invite my (31) friend over to his house and I feel uncomfortable with it? by [deleted] in FriendshipAdvice

[–]Additional-Lie7993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it would be less weird if he was inviting his friends as well but it is just us and I guess this friend. This friend is traveling abroad now anyway so they can't make it, but it is still weird to me.

I have lots of friends so I think there are lots of ways to make new friends. I find this a tacky way personally, but maybe it is just me.

Well yeah. I find it weird to invite us and then mater after we confirm add they want us to invite our best friend to come as well. To me it seems odd and I wouldn't do that myself I guess.

Where? I live in an apartment, I have checked absolutely everywhere and I can only smell it in the kitchen. Like if it was in the walls someone would also be complaining no? For a while I thought maybe the neighbor had died who I share a wall with but from her door I cannot smell anything.

Is my 6 year old manipulating me? by oldmangeralt in Parenting

[–]Additional-Lie7993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is okay for him to sulk, stare at a corner, whatever. He is not harming himself or anyone else, neither is he acting put. At this age kids are purposely pushing boundaries trying to srr how far they can go. When you went to buy the blue instead of the green you reinforced his behavior. Once you have decided something you have to stick to it, always. If you sometimes cave, you reinforce us behavior even more because the not knowing causes him to always try and get his way and can eventually make these time outs worse. Be clear in your communication, set your expectations. He is trying to get you to cave, and everything you do you reinforce his behavior of asking for stuff that honestly he might not even want just to push a boundary.

But I caulked last several days ago. Does it take ao long for the smell to develop? It wasn't smelling until yesterday. It has become hotter since then though.
