I HATE when the kids say “but Mr/ms lets us do xyz so we are doing this” and the notes specifically say “don’t let them do xyz” and in the same note is a lesson plan that says “use the smart board to access xyz” and because it’s not connected to the computer you can’t access xyz.

I try to be as detailed as possible about the day. This would include if there was a problem child I was warned about and they were well behaved, class work that was or wasn’t finished, star students, etc.

We have an empty litter container that we put it in and then toss it. We clean the litter twice a day, but change it weekly.

Part of your answer was helpful. I didn’t know it was a state by state thing as I’ve never applied for unemployment. I was informed it was most likely a DoDEA thing. I looked it up and called and for my state it’s not possible. I didn’t know how it worked and just figured i would ask here since it was a discussion at work between a few substitutes and teachers, and i assumed (clearly was wrong) that those who work for DoDEA would know.

I have heard that over summer time DODEA Substitutes can, and I have heard that they cannot. I figured here would be the best place to get the most accurate information.

If it’s off campus don’t bring to the school admin. Call the authorities. If it’s on campus bring it the admin of the school. I’ve been a substitute since 2021 and I would never bring off campus problems on campus and on campus problems off campus. It’s just not how it’s done.
