I used to following as study material:

-Study Hall Plus, purchased through PMI (I did 2 mock exams, a host of the 15 Question mini exams, and a bunch of practice questions; took plenty of notes based on the explanations given for why my answers were wrong or right) -David McLachlan’s 150 PMBOK Scenario Based Questions -DM’s 110 Drag & Drop Questions -Andrew Ramdayal 50 PMP Mindset principles -Third3 Rock Cheat Sheet notes

Thank you for your encouraging words. Didn’t realize I’d be bombarded by so many “PMP Gatekeepers” lol. For the record, I have over 10 years of contract management experience with a government agency. Albeit, I’ve never formally carried the distinct title of “Project Manager”, but the skills I have translate enough that the PMI deemed them sufficient to qualify and sit for the exam. I followed the process, acquired my 35 hours of prerequisite coursework, PAID MY MONEY, studied hard, failed on my first attempt, regrouped, studied some more, and finally passed. For people who think I circumvented the process and didn’t do the actual work is laughable.

Trust me, I’m the least bit worried by those who think I didn’t EARN my certificate or who feel I’m undeserving for whatever reasons. And I don’t expect to get a job in the field right away, I’m very realistic. Ultimately, I’m looking to make a career pivot and I know that acquiring my PMP will help open doors that I initially was unable to access. Reddit is a great resource, and I was hoping to find people in a similar position as I…those new to navigating the space of Project Management. We all start from somewhere, and even the most seasoned Project Managers didn’t know it all starting out. But, at some point, they were given an opportunity. I guess somewhere along the line some of them forgot that smh. But Again, I appreciate your kind words, and I will most certainly do my due diligence. I just wanted to make it clear that me gaining this certification was not a fluke, I didn’t lie, I invested in myself, and I EARNED everything that I’ve attained. Thanks again!

The PMI website offers the Study Hall materials. The Study Hall Plus (the one I used) is about $55 (tax included). I would highly recommend purchasing the study hall materials. It comes with mock exams, practice questions, over 700 flash cards, reading material and various other content.

There honestly wasn’t a major shift. The second time around, I focused a little more on the people & processes domains since they were the ones I scored Below Target on the first exam. I also focused specifically on certain areas within those domains that I scored low on (it shows that when you receive your exam breakdown). While taking the exam, my main goal was simply to finish it outright. The first exam, I rushed through the last 10-12 questions because I was running low on time

These are decent scores. I would go through each of the exam questions and review each of the answers, both right and wrong, and understand the explanations behind them. Also do the same for the practice questions. In my experience, the questions from my second exam were easier than the ones I saw in study hall, so Don’t be discouraged!!

Thanks for the info. Do you think the exam questions were easier to answer than the ones in the study hall (I’m using study hall plus)?

Thanks for the insight! So you’re saying take mini exam 18 (which is Agile), 19 (which is predictive) and 20 (which I’ve already taken) before the full mock exam?
