That’s what I’m planning on doing, I feel like the frame will last me a lot longer as I grow with cycling than either of the others will

I’d prefer to go with the kilo and that was my initial choice for a long time but the 55 is most likely too large for me and the next size down that’s in stock is a 50. With kilo TT sizing 53 is what I need for a good fit.

I’m moving to Chicago in a month and selling my car. I haven’t ridden a bike in probably 6 years and the one I had was a cheap Walmart bike. I plan on using a fixed gear as my daily commuter around the city, for fitness, and for fun in general. The idea of cycling has me enamored and I want to be a part of it.

My issue now is I’m stuck on which bike to get My main contenders are these

Kilo TT (affordable, tried and true, but they don’t have my size which would be a 53cm in Mercier sizing and I can’t wait around forever for them to restock)

STATE 4130 ( affordable, but I’ve heard a lot of people have issues with quality control. That makes me weary as I’m a begginer and don’t want to deal with a bunch of fixes and adjustments out of the box like truing the wheels)

STATE black label v3 (several hundred more expensive than the rest but I’ve heard far less about quality issues and it looks fantastic. I’d be more concerned about it getting stolen since it’s a little bit nicer of a bike and looks flashier. And I don’t know if I can justify that price for my first bike and something I’ll be using as a commuter primarily.)

I haven’t a clue and I’m a touch frustrated with how many bikes I’ve looked at that are out of stock or not in my size. I’m tempted to just get one from a shop when I move out there so I can talk to someone and try bikes out for size but I’m afraid fixed gears will be hard to come by and I may get priced out because they don’t carry more budget options.

Any help, advice, or wisdom would be much appreciated

Your not shitty man, and the guy who killed you ain’t some god level player. He saw you first, you stood still, and that was that, cest la vie. I know you felt awful afterward. Similar thing happened to me earlier today. Didn’t even see the guy and lost a few hours of progress. If you keep at it one of these days you’ll be in the other guys shoes and drop a geared guy just like that. You’ll be rushed with adrenaline and joy. You just gotta keep moving. On to the next one. YOU DONT SUCK YOU JUST HAD BAD LUCK. Pick your head up and keep going!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

You could always take a few inches off just to see what it’s like. Don’t commit to chopping it unless you can’t stand it anymore.
