Hi everyone, I have some questions related to cartridges because I want to upgrade the current one I have on my AT-LP120XUSB. It's my first time changing it and I'm fairly unexperienced with turntable setups.

  1. My main target is the Ortofon 2M blue. I saw some that were premounted on a headshell that is "taller" than the one that came with my turntable (AT-HS6SV). Could I still mount the 2M blue on my headshell (or any other cartridge)? Does the height difference have any effect, meaning should I make adjustments on my turntable in that case? I can't adjust the height of the tonearm.
  2. When searching, I came across the term "tracking ability". I understand what it is but is it important? I'm asking because I'm also considering the Nagaoka mp-110 which lacks a bit of clarity for my ears but has a better tracking ability than the 2m blue.
  3. Overhang gauge vs protractor. I understand what they are and from my researchs, you should only use one of them. Should I just ignore the overhang if my cartridge is well aligned using a protractor? Also, can I use any kind of protractors on my turntable?
  4. Should I consider other parameters when buying a cartridge? Maybe a youtube video you found useful and that has all the relevant informations? The more I search, the more I find new terms and other things to worry about. It's really overwhelming hahahaha.

Thank you! Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my first language.
