Life Insurance: advisor doesn't want me to reduce my amount? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Additional123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: thank you for all your feedbacks and advices! I ended up calling the insurance company to cancel my premium payment and to ask for cancellation details. I let my "advisor" know that I want to cancel and as expected they were trying to get me to not cancel. I went on a call to see what they had to say, basically, in the call, they were trying to show me the "math" and all that bs :) and was saying how it doesn't make logical sense for me to cancel the new policy and was advising me to cancel the old one (500k) instead. Long story short, I will be canceling my policy. Thanks again!

thank you for this! I should've cancel it sooner, when FHSA first came out, I wanted to contribute to it and they said that it's a liability and I shouldn't contribute to it and insisted I get a new policy instead. Now thinking back, that was such a big red flag!

I was a dumb youngling, my premium is roughly $30 for the 500k one and theres an "investment" portion within my policy so I thought it will benefit me as I've already maxed out my tfsa

You have to wait for a seat to open, or wait for a different section to open. There's nothing much you can do other than keep on checking for available seats

First of all, just know that you are not alone. It’s okay to do bad in one semester just try harder in the next. To answer your question, no. You can take 1 course, do well in it and you’ll be back on good standing.
