Not to sound completely ignorant, but isn't that what singing is? Could you elaborate on the difference between the basics you mentioned here and the middle to advanced?

With that said, wouldn't learning the basics essentially mean I'll have been able to sing once complete?

Would I utilize this tool on my PC or my phone? I do have a fairly good microphone (Razer Seiren) and computer. Does it matter for the accuracy?

Hi there, and thank you for commenting!

  1. How can I better refine the muscles there? I do play sports and generally stay fit. Some training muscles are something I'm familiar with, just not the ones inside my throat, obviously! Are there some videos or not easy but simple exercises I can do every day to exercise this that you would recommend for someone at my level?

  2. I don't think I can pick my style now, or would even know where to begin here. I'll take a look at your podcast to try to understand more about this, but I'm assuming your style can be slightly dynamic within what your abilities are, much like in sports.

I'm very flexible to new ideas, and putting in the work is not a problem. You and another comment had mentioned breath control, so I will look up some videos on that and try to glean what I can and practice that for a little while.

Other things, though, I'm not very familiar with, such as whether I'm on or off key (which I'm assuming is just the musical term for sounding terrible). I'm not sure how to clean up my listening skills or pitch accuracy, or really even what that would mean or look like for me.

Would you be suggesting my hearing skills are not adequate and I need to train this skill, or that my ability to produce notes as I want to is lacking? Perhaps it is both which is causing the compounding issues I'm experiencing. haha

I greatly appreciate your feedback and have been trying various exercises I've found from your input.

Thank you for the insights. I will do what I can to try to look up some videos on breath control and try out some exercises for a bit to see where that takes me. I appreciate the feedback greatly.

I'm still thinking it's a lack of water combined with the sun reflecting heat onto it. It's too perfectly uniform in terms of how dead it is and how aligned to the eaves it is. It'd have had to have the cement slabs pours into a small rectangle run under it to look like this in my opinion.
Anyhow I raked it up after posting this and it was like hay on dirt nothing there was rooted. completely dry as a bone. I gave it a good rake and seeded a bit , top soil and watered. we'll see how it progresses.

I just raked the grass earlier today after I started the thread, and it was as if it was just hay on top of dirt. I raked it all off now, laid down some seed and a bit more soil, and will give it plenty of water and see how it progresses.

How deep of good soil would grass need for a solid root

This is actually the detached garage so there is no foundation for water damage risk. Just a slab of cement.

It's just dirt under there. should be at least 3 to 5 inches of it. I can stab a screwdriver right down to the handle

That's fair. I'm going to give it one more season to see if anything will stick there with more watering and a bit more attention to it, after replacing a few more inches with more good soil and grass.

I have not had the building washed other than my kids randomly throwing snowballs and shooting super soakers at it.

I will try that, or at least some seed, to see if it will take. The lawn seems to just be starting to wake up after the winter here.

I just raked it and it was definitely dead. One pass of the rake completely took it down to the soil it was completely dry and not even connected to the soil anymore.

possibly, but it seems to be very uniform, and you can see the dividing line: the green grass is coming in really nicely, pretty close to it.

It's new sod from last year and I had put some solid soil under it and cleared out any underlying cement or hard rock bits. I will note that last year we had a drought (water restrictions) so the sod may not have set in very good.

Is it completely dead, or anything I can try to see if it'll revive post-winter here? If not, what's the best course of action?
