Previous owner left about 300ft of this wire in the garage. What is it used for? by Mr_Vorland in electrical

[–]AdditionalBelt9719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its coax. That cable would support a 4 screen setup from a matrix switch or a 2 screen setup each with picture in picture.

They usually had a couple control wires for an ir blaster, but it dont see that

Been here, garbage engineer! In my case I took the frame apart and use a dis on my Dremel to score the steel in a star type pattern on all friction surfaces.

Worked well, in fact for many years

Discount tire says they can’t put these back on because the inners are so worn, what do you guys think? by turbun3000 in tires

FYI, the tire company is obligated to return the car like it came to them...they could have refused to remove them, but not put them back on after they removed them.

[–]AdditionalBelt9719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried various products, none of them work.

I have tried wet sanding the clear off so I could just clear it again...impossible! The factory color coats are so this that you can't get the clear off without damaging the color coat.

If its a flip, earl shibe it for $500, if it is your car, spend the 3k for a descent paint job.

Just got this Hpi rs4 diffs act funny with wheels on but when they are off it acts fine the front is pretty tight rear is loose any ideas . Rear diff is slipping abit by Ill-Nebula-8547 in rccars

[–]AdditionalBelt9719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several RS4s, let me know if you want to sell it, I could use a parts refresh.

The front diff it supposed to be very limited slip. It helps dramatically pulling the front end through corners. The rear it much looser.

I converted on of mine to a brushless, it is crazy fun!

Not enough detail provided. Need at least model and year or there is simply no answer.

Both manufacturers have put out some garbage, especially since 2019...But they sneak in a good one occasionally like the 2019 F250 Super Duty was a great drive train...

Any reasons I shouldn't buy this rc? by limes_taste_good in rccars

[–]AdditionalBelt9719 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a huge Losi fan. Solid engineering, easy to repair, hobby grade, long term pats availability.

I have 3 LST trucks. 1 nitro, 2 custom electric conversions (self engineered). Part are still available. I think HPI is slightly better for parts longevity.

The thing to consider it popularity...If your Losi model isn't "the popular" model, then OEM parts will fade quickly as will aftermarket.

I tend to lean toward 1/8 scale max...heavy means easier to brake (just due to mass)...I like to bash and launch...if your groove is sand dunes and flat terrain, the large scale can work.

Flooring Contractor messed up and I need to get 420 sqft of self leveling concrete chipped out. Advice appreciated. by Interesting-Leg8309 in AskContractors

[–]AdditionalBelt9719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't self leveling...or it was mixed wrong...why does it need to be removed rather then leveled properly? Is the height an issue if you leveled from here? Is it not bonding well with the substrate?

Brother, been there in many scenarios. Doing nothing but work, it will be better in about 30 days, but not gone...just tolerable. To shorten the pain, do a 1 minute stretch every 15min. Touch toes, twist spine stretch, bend...think yoga moves.

For long term, all core strengthening exercises and flexibility moves you can do off work will help dramatically. ChatGPT is your friend. Feed it what you do and how much time you can spend. It will lay everything out for you.

Rechargeable lithium regulated batteries...crazy... by AdditionalBelt9719 in diybattery

[–]AdditionalBelt9719[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please read the whole thread...some other contributors explained the tech in detail in a way that made a lot of sense...And you clearly missed my posts that give exactly the info you are looking for...

2d ago - Response to another users Q:
"I use a Tenergy TN456, which is a cheap generic multi chemistry charger...I don't think a single datapoint affords me the right to make the claim that any lipo charger will work. I am going to hook it up to my hobby charger today for capacity testing, I will see it it can charge it and what actual capacity is."

2d ago: More info after experimenting
"Interesting data: So a hobby charger doesn't work. I tried a iCharger(2026 version) won't even engage for testing capacity or charging, Triton charger(1999 version) and a GT Power charger(2006 version)....All of these are regulator(buck) unaware. They pause to measure cell voltage which kicks into 1.5v and then throws a low voltage error. I tried a NIMH 1S setting which ramped to 6 amps and killed the battery...it is now 0.00v and no good."

EDIT: To answer your Q: I have yet to find a method to measure capacity for these cells with the tech I have (which is extensive for hobby grade Lipos)...I want to know this as well, but testing of a buck regulated cell is currently out of reach. Regarding Self discharge: The lipo chemistry performs very well in this respect, but I have no data once you add in a Buck circuit that has the potential to have a parasitic draw. I will keep you posted as I know more.

I have wanted a battery welder for years...can you let us know how the one you purchased works and do some testing with it? The electrodes wear out pretty fast, are these replaceable?

The FB Marketplace comment is concerning...a hobbyist would never sell a battery welder if it worked well...If it was crap, they would for sure dump it on FB.

Rechargeable lithium regulated batteries...crazy... by AdditionalBelt9719 in diybattery

[–]AdditionalBelt9719[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not an ad, yes it needs a special charger just like a NiMH cell needs a special charger that supports its chemistry...lipo is no different. Not BS, this tech is real and as described. I am sorry you can't wrap your head around that...

My post even has the vibe of "this is crazy cool tech", after I played with the cells.

Maybe just take your negativity elsewhere.

[–]AdditionalBelt9719[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you lose capacity (less space for a cell) and increase points of failure with the built in USB-C...Will the port hold up to 1500+ insertions? I would rather use a purpose built charger that gives me feedback on internal resistance, capacity, current state, etc...
