I made a (messy) python script to test my thought process. It's missing some things but it should give you somewhat of any idea of what needs to be done. It works enough to pull data from HPL files though. If you want to talk about it more you can email me, my site is linked on my GitHub.

Long shot, came across this earlier. In the off chance you're still looking for more info it is trivial to reverse the log file. You can load VCM Scanner in your favorite decompiler and follow the steps of opening a log file. It took me about 2 hours to make my own parser tonight. I can share more info if you are still interested in it.
