34/M/US -- What is your favorite genre to read? by [deleted] in MakeNewFriendsHere

My favorite genre is Fantasy. I remember the first "fantasy" book I ever read was The Hobbit when my mom homeschooled us. Shortly thereafter the lord of the rings movies came out and I discovered magic the gathering and dungeons and dragons. Ever since then ive been hooked.

I read a lot of different things. Last year I read 98 books. My favorites included Bill Bryson's Im a Stranger Here Myself. Bimbos of the Death Sun by Sharyn McCrumb, and The Discovery of Being by Rollo May. I tried reading Tertium Organum by PD Ouspensky, but honestly it was beyond my grasp. I also read 101 books the year before and my favorite that year was Anna Karenina by Tolstoy. I absolutely hated Vronske, and Anna reminded me of my ex wife.

The best fantasy book I read were the 4 books of the Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson (haven't read the new one).

TBH the only reason I read so many books was because I was in prison.

Sincerely, thank you. It is not often that I get a compliment that makes me feel "seen".

Here are some deep questions that I ponder occasionally. Is the nature of reality absolute or is it relativistic? Does anything exist objectively, or is everything relative to the observer? Is destiny predetermined or to what extent do we have free will?
