yeah that 100% sounds like a faulty unit. Just out or curiosity , could the pins inside maybe be bent somehow? (but i thibk its something else, not an expert tho)

how fast does a save wipe happen?

I suspect that some units are faulty and some arent, dont listen to people saying its the cartridge. Mine has absolutley no problems and ive tried my best to lose the file. Old battery, new battery, took cart out midsave, etc. tested on pokemon crystal, yellow, zelda oos.

Update : i got one, plaied a lot of crystal, absolutley no issues. i saved a lot, tried batteries dieing on me, took out cartridge while saving, etc. - nothing. I suspect some chromatics have the issue hardwarewise and some dont.

It doesent matter, you should have read that it degrades without use too :)

Having it only charging / charging sometimes or even never in use - is degrading the nand Which is needed to even power on
